The waters of the port were choppy. After I set off, there was a long, massive storm.
Years later, however, the sea calmed. I'm still on tranquil sea, but I'll never reach the Neurotypical Beach.

I'm super lost when it comes to understanding feelings and emotions, even though I have plenty in me.

The "funny" thing here is that I learnt about alexithymia a few months before I discovered I had Aspergers.

I was reading about brain injury (I had a very bad accident when I was 3) and the possible resulting impairments. And the part about alexithymia really resonated in me. It was a revelation. I became aware something was probably wrong with my brain, and eventually that lead to the autism diagnosis.

Uhmmm. I can be something along those lines. I am not 100% sure as some areas I get that but I could start getting shutdowns and think "What's wrong now?" and then I realize I have been stressed... My Mum would noticed that I can be stressed before I do t times! Is this something along these lines?

I have it really bad. I can't tell when I am anxious until after it has happened. Still not sure if I have experienced loneliness and would have no idea how to describe it. I pretty much just lump things into feeling good or bad.

It's easy for me to tell when I'm feeling big emotions like happiness, sadness, or anger. My problem is recognizing more subtle or mixed emotions or knowing why I have such negative reactions to some things.

Next time someone asks me how I am, I might have to say "I am not sure I have alexithymia" see how they react.
