I really hate these team meetings where there's team bonding activities and unfortunately today we had a larger cross team meeting with about 30-40 people in the room and two such activities, one at the start and one at the end.

I knew it was probably a mistake from the outset as the noise during the first activity was nearly intolerable. However, I stuck it out by staying quiet at the back and after the exercise finished was able to sit through the presentation.

However, after that there was a socializing section followed by another team bonding exercise and frankly I think it was just too much.

I got that 'starting to float' feeling, went very quiet and withdrawn and eventually had to leave the meeting and go and sit quietly in the toilets for 45 minutes as I felt that any more and I'd shortly be curled up on the meeting room floor totally unable to cope.

Have to say don't feel great but I'm at least able to kind of function now :|

That all sounds horrible, hope it didn't take you too long to fully recover! :)

Thought I'd got through with only minimal consequences this time but I spoke too soon above.

Had a couple of hours quiet in bed when I got home but still developed a migraine that evening. Good job I keep a stock of Sumatriptan nasal spray at home.

Eventually took a couple of days to feel back to normal as I just felt so tired.

Croydon is a gigantic shopping area. How do you manage to live there?

I know what you mean. I wouldn't be able to handle what you've handled.

I actually live towards the outer edge of Croydon in Waddon where it's more residential but only 10 - 15 minutes bus ride to work in central Croydon.

At the moment I'm waiting on funding from the local clinical commissioning group for my referral for an official ASD diagnosis appointment and if that works out as I hope I can at least ask for some 'reasonable adjustments' to help cope better at work.

Hopefully that should make things a bit more bearable for you. It's horrible when things affect you for so long but other people seem to get over things almost immediately or just not get stressed in the first place!

When I worked I flatly refused to take part in team bonding. But I did spend many years developing a crusty exterior where I could get away with it. I hope you get over it and don't have too much trouble in the future.
