People say, "How are you?" and you actually think they *want to know how you are*

Let me guess.

You live in Belgium?

Right?

Aspies in Quebec might have that problem with English vs French. And maybe in some corners of the US it might be English vs Spanish.

One of my many nicknames growing up and even to this day at 43 years of age was Rain Man. Although, of all the nicknames I had, I prefer this one the most... I must be Autistic.

:D

When changes in environment takes a while for your brain to get used to, for example often for a good half an hour after leaving the house, I kind of feel a bit surreal and distant (physically) from my surroundings. It's not pleasant and sometimes triggers panic.

When you are obsessed with what other people may be thinking about you.

I have not heard that that is an autistic trait. I thought that is a fairly common thing, the adversting and marketing industries make their profits exploiting this thought pattern.

<--- Aspie Alcoholic

Spends hours in the grog shop calculating alcohol per volume per $ to get the most bargain drunk.

(Have been sober for 29 years now but that memory always makes me smile)

And you actually stop to think about ...how you are doin' at the moment....and then try to rate how you are doing on a scale of one to ten, and then figure out how to translate that number into an adjective (like if its seven - "okay to pretty good")…..so you can give the person a literal answer to the question "how ya doin'?".

~ You can listen to the same song over and over again for hours.
~ You like things or have interests that most people aren't interested in.
~ You like things that are considered mundane, such as attention to detail, noticing stuff in movies/TV shows.
~ You see things other people overlook.
~ You're more expressive than other people.
~ You're a bright and shining light, in a barren world, that other people find it hard to see, appreciate.
~ The world doesn't make sense because it is far from logical.

People have compared you to a robot on several occasions, sometimes as a compliment and sometimes an an insult.

You know, every day when I answer the phone and say, "Hi, this is [my name]," there's a pause because the other person thinks they got my VM. I'm that robotic in my delivery :)

When you’re watching TV at a friend’s place and you put all their couch pillows on top of yourself and they ask if you want to switch spots with them to the couch with no pillows and you answer “no. I didn’t bring my weighted blanket so I put all the pillows on top of me. They’re heavy.” because it made sense in your head. She’s used to me so she just said “oh, ok.” And went back to the show

You're so impatient and easily irritated with people in public, that you wish you could afford to move to a less populated area.
