Don't know if many of you sleep with ear plugs because I find the slightest sound bothers me, do any aspies find this a problem, being sensitive to sound while sleeping?

I've worn earplugs while sleeping since college.

I can't stand the feel of earplugs and have a tendency to get panicky if I can't hear things going on around me that other people can, so instead, I sleep with white noise. I have a clock/radio that also has several nature sound selections on it, and I use the "waterfall" setting. The constant noise of that really helps keep other noises from waking me up or keeping me awake.

I used to sleep with in the ear earbuds and then ear defenders on top. I don’t need that anymore.

Ideally I would sleep in a pitch black room that was cold (no artificial heating or cooling) and without noise although I have owls outside my house and they don’t bother me much. I wake up at dawn every morning despite blocking out the light because of the birds.

YES. even the slightest sound disturbs me to the point I start to sweat and my heart beats faster. When I was younger I would have my TV on to fall asleep, and I'd have the volume loud enough to block out all other noises, and if my family members took it away I cried so hard, because I couldn't sleep without it. Even now if I can here someones TV in the background even with my earplugs on I can't ignore it it just makes me unable to sleep, so I have to ask to turn it down or sneak in and turn it down when they're asleep.

I cannot wear earplugs, because any foreign matter in my ear canal prevents me from sleeping. Unfortunately, though, i badly need to wear earplugs, since without it i'd only have light sleep and wake up every hour, because of some random noise outside.

My audio sensitivity used to be so bad about 6 years ago that I'd put earplugs in to sleep and the sound of my own heartbeat would keep me awake all night.

Our house is right next to a busy main road, so I still sleep with earplugs in every night even though my audio sensitivity isn't so terrible anymore. It works. I get much better more restful sleep & still wake up to my alarm clock or cell phone no problem.

I used to do this all the time. I need it to be completely quiet or I can't sleep.

Like Goldfish, I can also be overwhelmed by the sound of my heartbeat. I have to use a nature app on my phone to drown out noise because I find that earplugs and ear defenders accentuate bass sounds when I wear them sometimes. But I have slept with ear plugs, ear defenders and sometimes both together. They can be extremely painful for me but sometimes I just tolerate the pain. But the best thing I have found is to crank up the nature sounds.

My girlfriend is on the spectrum & sleeps with ear plugs. Part of the reason she does is that we go to bed late(after the average person wakes up) & our place has really thin walls, our place is rite next to the sidewalk which is near a busy street, & our neighbors listen to music & TV really loudly sometimes or they're yelling or the girl is running around causing things to bang. Also I type really loudly & it can disturb my girlfriend.

You type really loudly? Do you mean you have a loud keyboard?

I had the same issue with my wife and her usage of the mouse. She was clicking so loudly whenever she played games that i would sometimes get a meltdown whenever she played strategy or survival games...

After a few weeks of this i had enough and found a silent mouse for her.

Finally i can sleep at night when she is in her gaming mood.
My point is, that there might be a silent keyboard for you
