Congratulations! I wish that I had the strength (mental/spiritual/physical) to do that. Enjoy!

That's a very positive step to take to enlarge your possibilities and also an encouragement to us on WP. I and a person I worked with audited a class several years ago and we got to participate. The class was closely related to our work and the questions we raised were actually helpful to the instructor. We were decades older than the other students, but we all had pretty much the same objective to learn. I got nailed in the face with a frisbee walking to the class one time, lol. I guess there are multiple kinds of questions we ask - one kind is to fill in gaps of understanding material that has been presented and another kind is extending the scope of discussion out beyond what has been presented. Both kinds can help others' understanding. That's a neat action you're taking - I'll be interested to hear about the experience if you share about it here.

Sounds like a great plan. What courses do you want to audit?

Introduction to disability studies or something like that

I'm sure you will feel the urge to participate in discussions!

Just like I would feel the urge as well.

As you know, kk, I am never shy about expressing an opinion! It's funny though, when I was in college between ages 18-22, I was quite shy, and therefore got less out of classes than I might have. Oh well. Water under the bridge.

Maybe some professors would be open to auditors participating. When I audited classes, I was allowed to participate. I was actively enrolled in the college at the time, though.

I wonder if it’s disheartening to a professor when his or her best student isn’t an official one. LOL

laughs.... I imagine so!

I think I will have to set a firm boundary for myself though, or I can get carried away and go too far. At times, I'm sure I have monopolized conversations.

Good for you, BeaAuthur! Never give up on learning new things.

I have had a few people want to audit my lecture courses over the years. Most of them either have never had a chemistry course (but want to learn it) or took one many years ago. I always allow them if I have physical room for them. Since I do teach with morbid stories involving chemicals (students remember them the best), I do warn them that they may want to wait outside of the room when I get to those points if they have a weak stomach.

I have yet to have someone want to audit my lab courses though. It might be because most are almost always at the maximum allowed limit (per fire code rules), so I would have to turn them down because of that issue.

I felt the same as you,I had nothing to do as I don't work, but started to make my own jewellery, melting metals, casting.
Hopefully I will soon have an etsy page set up.
