I was born in August. I can't see why there would be more Aspies born in certain months. Although I have heard that those born in later months are more likely to be diagnosed with things like ADHD because they are more immature than their classmates as young children.

No, just because most people on the spectrum who you know are born in autumn or winter it doesn't prove anything. It's just coincidence.

By the way it's "winter" not "winder".

Don't worry about that. I think we understand what you mean so it's fine. I can imagine speaking any language besides your native language is difficult. I know it would be for me.

Namely: holidays, events and parties ... nine months prior.

I was born in April, but was conceived on Independence Day in the United States. Firework displays can do that, you know.

I was born on February 9th, but I don't see why what month you were born in would make any difference.

As odd as it may seem, there is research linking month of conception to autism rates. You can see one such study here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3296777/. It was conducted in California and found that children conceived early in the calendar year were more likely to be diagnosed as autistic. Because California is in the northern hemisphere, that would correspond to conception in the winter or very early spring, and birth in the autumn or early winter.

Keep in mind that the observed pattern almost certainly differs for locations in the southern hemisphere. The pattern might also be a bit different for other parts of the northern hemisphere, depending on the exact environmental factors that are leading to the association.

Given the date of my own birth (which occurred in the US, but not in California), I was almost certainly conceived at the time of the year that this study shows to be associated with peak incidence.

I was born in february. But...I don't see how that carries over to the conclusion that autistic births are more likely to occur during the colder seasons.

I was born in August. However I have several (non-autistic) relatives who were born in September. I commented on it once to my mother and she said, "well, January is a cold month". Meaning more people are probably conceived during the winter because sexual activity produces a lot of body heat.

Even if the month doesn't even matter - we need much more statistics to differentiate the symptoms, recognise the possible reasons and for finding the best ways to solve the related problems.

Born in June.

The "autistics I know" are a tiny sample that wouldn't prove anything. And so is the small sample who have answered so far.

Each month of the year would be expected to have 8 1/2 percent of respondents born that month because 100/12 equals 8 1/2 .

A while back we had a similar poll about signs of the zodiac. There did seem to be a curious distribution on WP for births under certain signs. Some got way more than 8 1/2 percent, and some way less. But I doubt that meant anything either.
