when i learned about Echolalia today for the first time (autism newb) my wife finally understood why i "mock" her incessantly and repeat almost everything people say on TV and Movies. I also do voices for my pets and mimick the cat all the time. It was quite the eye opener that Echolalia is actually a 'thing'

I tend to mimic animal sounds a lot, but rarely human sound.

It really tends to irritate some people.

I confess that I have imitated my cats quite a lot. I developed quite a good Siamese accent.

I wondered, for a long while, if I had tourettes until I found out that I am no means alone with my vocal sounds, mimicry and "vocal stimming".
I've met many Aspies who do much the same kind of thing that could easily be mistaken for tourettes.
With me, mainly, I wuff! :P
Onomatopoeia of dog sounds rather than realistic mimicry.
Most people find it cute or funny.
I often "rowf", tell myself to shush, then wuff even louder!
It's not unusual to hear me come out with something like, "Rooowwrrrr! Stop it, Gary! Wuff-WOOF!". I have no idea where this comes from.

I do this with dogs and cats. Although I don't do it just to mimic. I like to think I'm communicating with them some how. But they probably think I'm crazy.

I never really mimicked animals much. There's LOTS of vids on the net of people acting like animals so I don't think micmicking them is an autism trait.

I have always had a particular interest in understanding animals' vocal and body language (cats and birds in particular).

I mimic everything and everybody, including pets. My cat and I have conversations; she initiates, I repeat; we go on for 15 minutes or so. People are surprised.

My cat and I used to have deep conversations.

My cat makes this little sound I can't quite describe and I mimic him everytime he does it and he answers back to me the same way! I talk to my cat a lot.

Me, too, Kraftiekortie. I used to talk to my cats regularly. I like to think my attention to them was positive, for many lived very long lives.

I'm not sure it's an aspie thing but I do it sometimes. Not as much as when I was younger, mind you, but I still do. Sometimes I hissed and meowed like a cat and growled deeply like ... well something.
