Recently, I read an article about it is hard to get treatment for an autistic child in Illinois. The only hospital that can take children for general mental illness, their administrator says that their unit is not right for anyone with autism because it is "noisy and stressful". So why can't they have a room that is quiet or try to reduce the stress level? Is there some reason why many NTs seem to me brag about how noisy and stressful a place is? Like to hear what you all say.

article about finding help

To me, a hospital [or school or camp etc] that is willing to say, "we are not suitable for autistic patients" is preferable to one that claims to be able to treat everyone.

I haven't read the article so more than that, I cannot say.

The Hospital for Special Care in New Britain Connecticut is in the center of the state and has a program designed for children with autism.

You are right, but why doesn't the hospital try to make their situation better? Seems like they are just giving up.

It costs money to create the proper facilities and hire trained staff.

There is shortage of professional workers in the US. With the present administration making immigrants unwelcome why should they come here?

The hospital probably does not have a lot of funding & is very overbooked & understaffed. They can only afford to do the bare minimum to treat autistics. They're probably only bothering to treat the 1s most severely affected who can not function at all in the real world; basicaly they're only taking the 1s who are a threat to others or themselves.

I've never noticed anyone do that, but even if they do, what does it have to do with the article?
