I'm 22 on February 4th which isn't too far off now. I like birthdays, especially my family's birthdays but I could give my own a miss. It's just that every year I see myself older and still no progress made. I still suck at communicating, no friends, no job and I'm still anxiety and OCD ridden :(

My birthdays don't affect me much.

...This coming Saturday is my birthday - Aside from being painless, I have plenty of back pain and can:t get enough sleep in off-my-feet rest  . I can't get things resolved, either, and can't make out enough space to read, run around all day :( .

((Hugs to you))
I suffer from multiple pains as well, especially my shoulder which is in agony on a daily basis. I hope you have a great birthday.

I have generally enjoyed celebrating birthdays, although the worst day of my life fell on one. Now, they tell me that I have a fatal condition to plan for, and that I shall have to keep working harder to stay alive. However, I have learned not to beat myself up too much about not having achieved certain things yet by diverting to others I have, and/or to noting that I'm making significant progress toward my goals, which is better in some ways. Whenever I do knock something off my to-do list, I have to find another goal anyway.
Stock-taking can also be done monthly, seasonally, and on the new year, as well as upon completion of projects, semesters, and relationships. If you are suffering from comparison to the usual milestones of life, you might try intentional eccentricity. For instance, if you can't afford new furniture, you may be able to live even better by scrounging with a sense of style.

I like my birthdays now but, just a few short years ago, that wasn't the case. I thought I would just get older and not accomplish anything in life. Now, that's not the case.

Congratulations! :) I'm really happy for you. Hopefully in a year or two I'll be feeling that way as well. I stay healthy and try to keep my spirits up but to be honest I haven't accomplished anything yet. I'm writing a book but it's not even past the first chapter yet :(

I am not really that fond of my birthday because of the same issues I feel I should be further along than I am for someone my age. I also feel that with milestone ages like 18 or 30 ect... the intense pressure to be perfectly happy and happily perfect. On a happier note I have found spending my birthday alone means I dont feel this pressure and can do what I like.

I spend my birthday alone mostly as well. But I do agree, the pressure is really tough. You expect so much from yourself and then a year later, I realize, I haven't improved at all.

I don't enjoy celebrating my birthday, in part for the same reasons you said but that's has gotten better in the last year, but what I dislike more of birthdays is the "happy birthday" song where Im the center of attention (it's also loud and) and getting gifts. I hate gifts, people get mad or offended for my lack of reactions when opening them, I much rather spend the day alone than surrounded by people where I need to tailor my facial expressions to fit the situation

Yeah I enjoy them (although I don't like to think of my age, that's so no indicator of who I am!)

I tried to make my 50th as low key as possible and hoped people wouldn't remember

A bunch of nice people did nice things for me and I appreciated it a lot. Doesn't mean I still don't cringe a bit when it comes to my birthday. I try to treat it like a typical day, yet it never comes out that way. And Happy future Birthday Dani92.

Every day is my birthday and some days I wish it wasn't, but not always.

my birthday is in 6 days (i have to get my wisdom teeth out on your birthday) and i used to love it, then when i was a teenager it made me anxious and now im a little indifferent. i like that people treat me nice on my birthday an every year my cousins take me out the same restaurant and i really look forward to it now. its just kinda a nice day i have.
