Does Hank Hill have AS

I've been watching King of the Hill reruns and was wondering if anyone else saw this.

--Socially awkward,
--Obsessed with propane and the Dallas Cowboys (just watched an episode where he recognizes a forged player signature). --Likes to stick to routine
--Highly averse to changes in his environment.
--Doesn't understand his more outgoing wife and kid

Thought this might be an accidental model case for the generations of undiagnosed AS people in middle America.

he's very pragmatic, but i don't think he exhibits any real AS traits. he is actually less awkward/crazy than almost anyone in that show. if i had to guess who has AS in king of the hill, i'd say maybe Dale or that one ginger kid who always mutters depressing, offensive things to his schoolmates.

Yes he does.

I notice in most shows there's at least one character that doesn't fit the norm because it makes the show more interesting. Life would be boring without them.

I think he has some possible traits of AS:

- he also doesn't smile much
- shows rigid thinking sometimes
- and his tone of voice is pretty much always the same

As some mentioned Dale may also have a few AS traits, but I think most the time he shows signs of paranoia and delusion. I would be funny tho if one of these days there was an episode that would show he was right all along.

He does have a rather unusual interest in propane and propane accessories, and he does have difficulty showing emotion, and he does like routine...but I believe he's just an average Texan.

Dale most likely is a paranoid schizophernic for all his audio and visual hallcinations of "UN helicopters", and one episode he fell off his stool onto the floor, and screamed Ahhhhhhh (a news paper hit his out instead of his porch and he though he was under attack), then an ant crosses his path and he screams "Ahhhhhhhh". He also has many outlandish theroies of government survailiance. This is probably caused by living in proximity of very very poisonous chemicals he uses in his fumigation business. (He once sprayed bug spray directly into his face, ie eyes, and didn't show signs of discomfort, such as coughing and or screaming "My eyes burn". Meaning his body has adapted to the chemicals and built up a tolerance. He has lots of chemicals in his head... bad bad chemicals.

For a good laugh, youtube. "helicopter City hall man". and laugh because that is the physical manifestation of Dale Dribble.

I always saw Hank Hill as a typical conservative Texan. I've met a few like him in my frequent journeys to Texas. Man, do they hate change. A few years ago when Dodge changed from their square, antiquated style of pickup design to the current aerodynamic shape, you should have heard those western Texans piss and moan in the coffee shops and bars. Here in Wisconsin, the Dodge fans were saying, "Finally, Dodge. What took so long?" In Texas, they were complaining about why they couldn't leave well enough alone.

So typical conservative Texas appear to have AS? Must be why I like the people here in San Antonio so much better than I ever did back in Ohio.

I think Hank Hill is just supposed to represent the conservative/traditionalist mentality among some Americans.

I agree. He's exaggerated to make the show more interesting. People want one extreme character so they can laugh at the things they say or how they interpret reality. So the creators of comedy try to include one in the cast. Seinfeld's Kramer is another example.

I am certain Hank Hill has Asperger's Syndrome. As someone who has Asperger's Syndrome, I personally feel that I can relate to the character. All the King of the Hill characters are great, but Hank is unique.

You do realize, of course, that you just replied to a thread that hadn't been posted in for about 9 years regarding a TV series that also ended production 9 years ago, and that the TV show was a two-dimensional cartoon about a fictional family that was a parody of its creators' families and friends?
