Autistic Pride Events 2019

Another year has passed, and June is with us once again.
Therefore, some of us are putting time and effort into organising Autistic Pride events in our local towns and countries.
If you live within a few hours' journey from an Autistic Pride event, you may want to give it a try this year.
All of the events are organised by autistic volunteers. Admission is free.

Anyway, there seem to be more Autistic Pride events in the UK this year than in
all other countries combined...

Question: I notice that most of these events are in June. Why June? Does the month of June have any particular significance for autistic people that I am unaware of? (LGBT Pride events are in June to commemorate Stonewall.)

Anyhow, in any given locale, an "autistic pride" event would not be not feasible until a sufficiently well-developed autistic community exists in that locale. (Please see the separate thread Building the autistic community?)

I can't wait until Vancouver, BC starts holding Autistic Pride events.

I think 18th June was chosen because it was one of the founders' birthday.

Autistic Pride Day is totally unethical (though many local organisers don't know that) and should not be held. When accountability for abuse exists properly and non-selectively, Autistic Pride Day will no longer be able to happen. autisticgroupsfairnesswatch.wordpress.com/2018/06/15/autistic-pride-day/

This is because it was invented by rejecters. By the leadership couple of a now-defunct autistic voicing movement that had a tyrannical character of frequently purging + banning members in an instant on emotional whim or on one word. It farcically banned both the folks who tried to start local groups for it, one for taking any local credit for a local fundraising activity - that was a banning offence! So it was a place that hurt and harmed the already hurt + vulnerable.

I will concede that it sounds like a thoroughly lousy group. All the same, events have a way of growing past their beginning.

Plus, I think Autistic Pride Day probably borrows a lot from the positive example of LGBTQ Pride Day.

As far as I know, none of the current organisers of Autistic Pride Day events is connected to AFF.
Additionally, I loved going on the AFF forums for as long as they existed. I always got nice reactions from most members over there.

As a duty to vulnerability and safety, it is blank cheque automatically always unethical to love anywhere where anyone else at all was getting wronged.

Yes, but I haven't seen anyone getting wronged at AFF.
(perhaps they were and perhaps they weren't. i have absolutely no idea)

Then you can go read the evidence that they were. See that the 2 absurdly banned leaders of local groups for them were prominent enough figures outside aff, that at the time of posting, folks could check up on them + verify about them.
