In 8th grade I was so skinny if I turned to the side, i would be invisible. And yes I was on ADHD medications.

Anti Depressants make me hungry all the time. I'm severally over weight because of this.
I was under weight until I starting taking meds. They seem to also slow me down.

Some people actually take ADHD meds to lose weight.

When I took epilim which can also be used to treat depression as well as epilepsy I gained a huge amount of weight. I stopped taking them years ago and am still slowly losing it all as I try to undo the damage done when I was taking it. My stomach became an endless pit on that as I was constantly starving and ironically it made me depressed which made things worse as I no longer had any drive to do anything, let alone try to manage the weight gain. Hence I got quite big. Not obese or anything but quite overweight.

I was put on Seroquel "for sleep" in 2013. I then weighed 55kgs as I had since I was 17. Within 6 months I gained 30kgs. I've since come off the Seroquel but lithium and haloperidol are preventing me from losing any weight, so the doctor told me. I'm reluctant to come off those meds though, because they're keeping me sane. I just have to lose it the hard way. Change my way of eating and exercise more.

I did in 6th grade, depakote. I was put on them to calm my body down from seizures I was having and it made me hungry a lot. The side affect of pills can mess some wiring up in your brain and that brain sends you a false signal you are hungry so I ate two times as much and gained lot of weight and got all these stretch marks. I gained like 20 lbs in one month so that would mean I was gaining 5 lbs a week so that must have been a lot of food I was eating and it must have been one expensive month for my family.

I honestly wish my mom had told me this then and told me I was actually gaining, not because of my body changing and I would have ate a lot less and not listen to my hunger signals knowing it's the new meds tricking my brain. I don't know if I would have understood then even if she had told me.

How much did you grow in sixth grade?

Funny thing: On my 14th birthday, I was 4 foot 11, and weighed about 130 lbs. On my 15th, I was 5 foot 2, and weighed about 105.

But people usually gain weight when they enter puberty.

I weighed 19st when I went into hospital, 2 1/4 years later of hospitalization and a variety of medications including quetiepine, aripriprazole, lithium, and a variety of antidepressants I weigh 24st10lb.

I feel horrible about the weight gain, and still feel depressed because of it.

What do you think caused the seizures? Autism or Epilepsy?

I think that the Prozac I was taking from late 2012 through August of this year contributed to an 80+ pound weight gain. I was also drinking a lot of soda, but was able to control my consumption while unmedicated. Now that I'm off, I can't shake the increased soda intake, repetitive food choices, or the weight. My mom is wanting me to go back onto the meds because I was easier to deal with then.
