Some people can have low and high IQ together. I have a disharmonic IQ profile, disharmonic means there is a big difference between the levels. My level of processing-speed-IQ is 78, which is low. I think with people with autism there are often een disharmonic IQ. The spectrum is wide, so i think thats the same with the traits.

^ From the more reputable online tests I've done there's a big difference between my verbal and non-verbal intelligence . I'm not sure how that affects personality traits .

You can be a schmuck with a high IQ, or a saint with a low IQ. And everywhere in between.

And vice versa.

I did an IQ test as part of my assessment and my results were... varied to say the least. Th highest I scored on one thing was 139 and there was one section (something to do with attention I think) where all they would tell me was I did worse than 99% of the population. Quite a range and they told me that is very common for people on the spectrum. I'm happy they didn't tell me the average after hearing how low I scored on the attention part and several others, despite scoring high for others.

i doubt IQ has much to do with the traits, but if they can go either way, they will. Take someone with a very low intelligence, for example. Some are super nice, probably because they don't really care, and others can be vicious. The same goes with very bright people. EITHER may have social problems, even if they may be caused by different things.

With regard to composite scores, yeah the variance is generally wider on autistic people. But everyone is going to have SOME variance.

Yes but autism is not really relevant; a large difference in two people's IQs (like borderline mentally disabled vs. genius) is going to manifest in different personalities regardless of autism.

IQ scores really don't mean that much at all

Personally i don't consider myself as either as i realize that most ppl with autism who have higher iqs tend ot have other offsets liek i.e. low social intelligence or emotional intelligence. So It's kind of a trade off. That's my main problem with iq tests. It's misleading to the people taking them cause a. they invovle some prior knowledge b. they only test for one kind of intelligence. and c. you can use pattern recongition to help you pass where otherwise you wouldn't. (Atleast in the ones that aren't entirely based on pattern recognition. and For that matter. IQ doesn't even accurately measure what it's supposed to book smarts.

I had an IQ test as a child that basically said I was ret*d. That was the terminology back then. My mother didn't question it when I got older because "If you have an IQ test once, it's a baseline for how your IQ is going to be for the rest of your life. Even if a two year old has an IQ test, the result will probably remain consistent if they have an IQ test later in life."

I think if you get past being the teenage years without anyone realising you have learning difficulties, then the chances of it being picked up on as an adult are very slim.
This,I would say, is very true of those of us who were at school pre the 1990s .

That wisdom is not the same as the outcome of an intelligence test is reflected in the legendary quote from Socrates. If wisdom cannot be measured then an IQ test also says nothing about wisdom. Some people with a high IQ consider a high IQ and the concept of Wisdom as synonyms, but I find that neither intelligent nor wise. According to Socrates, a newborn child has more wisdom than the moment that child is 43 years old, at least, the route is open. A child is a true explorer, a child's way of thinking is like a snow carpet that has not yet been followed.

Generally speaking, I don't agree. IQ tests are widely recognized as good indicators of cognitive ability. The value of one's full-scale IQ after averaging is more debatable, especially for those of us with developmental disorders, but scores for specific tasks are accurate predictors of how well a person will perform on practical cognitive tasks (executive function, academic performance, etc). That's why IQ testing is used as a diagnostic tool. That said, there are cases in which a person's scores do not match their actual ability, but I think those can often be explained by poor testing procedures, which should be reformed. Throwing someone with autism into an unfamiliar environment with a stranger and forcing them to make conversation for up to eight hours hardly seems like an appropriate way to measure their ability. It's more or less the equivalent of having a neurologically typical person take their IQ test in the middle of Walmart. Why the testing procedures are standardized in this way is beyond my comprehension.

I think that it can be really challenging for an individual on the spectrum with a low IQ to be able to communicate his or her needs in a way that others will understand which can, obviously, lead to a great deal of frustration and, perhaps, more meltdowns. It can create a double hurdle - it can be hard to communicate when one is on the spectrum and it can be hard when one has an intellectual disability (depending on the degree of both).

Of course, people on the spectrum with high IQs can also struggle with communication issues, but they might be better at finding ways to work around it.

Of course, there are many variables that could be at work here. Each person is an individual and has his or her own challenges and abilities.

Hello everyone!

I don't believe that autistic individuals have different innate personality traits based merely on their IQ. But I sure believe that at least ONE autistic individual on THIS planet developed an ego gland somewhere in their etheric plane feeling self worth feeling based on the score alone. In more spontaneous terms, an unmeasurable quantity of high IQ people, autistic like non-autistic, see their IQ as a pivot point to distinguish themselves from "the mass".

To be frank, the spontaneous "terms" were not spontaneous at all.

Now I will get serious a moment.

They say (no sources yet) that Consciousness and Information are exactly the same thing. it's an artificial division!
Like, information is the projection of consciousness from one world to another world. And consciousness is the appreciation of the world as a reality projected inside.

I don't like IQ tests. Do you know about the hawthorneeffect? The Hawthorne effect is the effect of someone participant in a scientific study not being spontaneous BECAUSE he/she feel observed. How some people are still saying that IQ testing is scientifically valid and as such proves something, may have to do with their fictional account of this reality they appreciate for themselves.

I've never been tested for IQ derangement syndrome. People say I am intelligent. I just want to continue to blossom like a beautiful flower that waited too long before knowing itself.
