Great thread! I almost never am myself either when i dream. I'm better than I am here. The person people see in the waking world is simply what I got stuck with. The REAL me comes out when I dream. There, I'm taller, rail-thin, and very, very good with knives. I'm also the opposite gender (male). I'm swift, cunning, and I never take anyone's crap. I don't get to be Riddick, but I'm just as wicked in a fight. I also have my own spacecraft, which runs on the harmonic signature frequency of sub-atomic particles. It's also navigated by finding a specific "song", matching it, and simply "stepping through" to its location. I don't talk much there, either, but it's for totally different reasons. I'm trying to find someone who can make my blades for me in RL.
They are made of bone, with an obsidian edge, both daggers are perfect twins and the blade surface measures a full 8 inches from point to the bolster. The handles are titanium-infused volcanic glass, virtually unbreakable. I love my dreams.

i do lots of stuff in my dreams

im me... other people.... me in other people... have other people in me....

i die in dreams... go to my death world... go to other people's death world (when im having dreams in other people and they die (or wake up, depending on how you look at it))... i fly swim... talk in foreign languages... read... write... i kill people (in self defense only so far)...... think about things i need to do... ask questions that i cant figure out in IRL just to see what the hell i say... there are monsters good and bad... i find clocks... i find doors... i find people i know and see what they are doing (odd theory there... another thread)... nightmares... terrible nightmares... i cry... and try to look at myself just to see how i appear... i do aikido in dreams... dance ... and i wake up into other dreams.. finish artwork... but mainly, i go places... just to see how far i get... i play video games... like i become a WoW character or whatever.... chronotrigger sometimes... things like that... aliens and their languages... space and going through the process of figuring out that we dont need to breath (similar to dying).....

many other things cant think right now

i have a book that i've been keeping track of dreams for yrs.... sometimes i stop cause i find even writing gets to the point of directing the dreams (on a long term basis... it's like creating a skip in a record.... i'd like to figure out why it does that when it does) and mixing them and making it harder to dream new ones or start from where i left off... but it stops when i take about a week's break from writing.

Well, I have been a number of things in my dreams. Some were good, and others bad. Some where I flew, was almost lucid, etc... One I know at this point probably won't be true at least like it was. Was one where I was walking down the steps of a library in Germany with a pretty daughter, and a pretty wife, and we were happy. Just that ONE scene represents so many things I hoped about my life that probably won't be true.

I had a dream the other night that was very vivid. One of my friend's dad died last week and in the dream we met him and talked to him and he looked very happy. At the end of the dream I said "Good bye" to him and he just looked away and smiled.
But in answer to your question, I'm always me in dreams.

One night I had a dream that I was paralized from the waist-down.
When I woke up at 1:37am, I couldn't feel my legs because I had slept on them in a strange way and the circulation had been cut off.
It took about 3-5 minutes for full sensation to return.

Once I had a dream that I was male, only I didn't know it and I was walking into a game shop to buy "Need For Speed Underground". The cashier said to me, "Guys really like this game, i'm sure you'll enjoy it".
I replied, "I'm a female, I just like this game,".
Cashier held me up a mirror and said, "You are male,".
I really did look male. It was a strange dream. :?

It is about 50/50
Half the time I am myself
Half the time I am someone else..
Occasionally there will be the weird 3rd person phenomemon where I am in the dream but I am not me.

Sometimes dreams play out concerns/beliefs. Maybe you are a bit upset because you believe females aren't generally interested in that game.

I'm basically myself... I don't remember many of my dreams... I wish I could.

I think I am an idealized version of myself in dreams. Usually, I act the way I want to act and get results the way I want to get results.

I day dream a lot... in my day dreams I always imagine what I want to do and the way I want to approach it... and amazingly it all works in my dreams.

In real life it rarely works... :?

What an amazing topic. How boring it is to have a commonly wired brain.

I am always myself in my dreams. I am in my usual environments: at home, at work or with my cats.

I am not always "me" in my dreams...

I have been another person (no one I know), even a different gender. In them I look completely different, I might have a job and feel very comfy as that person (depending on the circumstances of the dream). In the dream it feels perfectly normal and natural, it is not until I wake that I realize that was not me.

It is strange because in the dream it is so natural, different life, different experiances, different place, and it is totally "me"... until I awake and realize it really was'nt.
