A considerable portion of the Mensa test is about seeing visual patterns, too.

I'm OK if visual patterns are printed on paper, but having them illuminated on a computer screen or flashing with multiple colours is too much. At that point they're measuring your ability to tolerate stimulation rather than recognising patterns.

Unless they're very, very easy I have next to zero ability to work out the correct answer on such tests. I guess one heck of a lot.

The formula to account for guessing?

Standard Formula: SCORE = Right - (Wrong/(n-1)).

Right = the number of correct answers.

Wrong = the number of incorrect answers.

N = total number of alternatives per item (including the correct answer)

I think there's 25 questions . My revised score would be 6-(19/(8-1))

6-19/7 = 6-2.71 =3.29 =3 to nearest whole number .

Verbally I'm Mensa level . Non-verbally I'm thick as two short blanks level .

Same here. My logical reasoning, working memory, and processing speed are all well below average. And I'm really bad at math. Verbally, I'm a "genius". I didn't even bother finishing this "IQ test" because I had no clue with most of the questions.

Why are people on this forum suddenly so averse to taking an IQ test? I posted one before and it was well received. The only reason I post them is to know where I stand and if it's inflated or not.

Well I, for one, have no aversion to taking the test, but only to displaying the results.

I don't know how many times I've been told, "For someone who is supposed to be so smart, you sure can be stupid", and usually right after I've spoken a painful truth about someone that everyone else was either ignoring or denying.

Just because I can "make magic" with computer-controlled systems, that does not mean that I'm capable of knowing in advance what not to say to someone.

It is impossible to care for every snowflake that falls from the sky.

Because I have been called both a genius and an idiot too many times to attribute any meaning to these concepts, or to believe that IQ tests have any relevance to real life outcomes. I was genius level as a child, now merely above avarage, however just yesterday I misspelled my own name because someone was watching me as I was writing... A lot of BS, these tests. They can give you a false view of yourself and pretty unhealthy, narcissistic coping mechanisms.

I did poorly at that test. That is par for the course with me with such tests .

Dr Greg Grove's(educational consultant) verbal tests at IQ exams .

Real IQ calculation (sd15): 156, Calculated from 3 tests with 118 items (RIQ version 2)
Rarity mean IQ (sd15): 157 (Quality compensated)
Arithmetic mean IQ (sd15): 150 (Quality compensated)

'Test of interpretive power' that is also one of his tests , but you have to email
your answers to him 148 -151.

I'm terrible at visual/spatial tests, too, Kraftie. My strength is in verbal tests.

I'm not at all averse to taking IQ tests. In fact I love taking quizzes and tests. It's just that my non-verbal IQ is extremely low, and I gave up on this test because most of the questions completely baffled me.
