Of course, if so it would be a mild case of AS, but just like my sis really.

I´ve been thinking about it for a while now, since my sis once told me, she loved Phiby(phoebe) character and Joey, cos she sort of relates a lot to her, she always laughs at things she does, even when i used to find it "weird", lol.
At first when "friends" started (years ago , before i knew nothing of AS) I used to think Phiby was an eccentric character no one would relate to in Real life, as if she was exaggerating her part. (I guess being a NT I didnt relate to her at first so just focused on the other ppl, well especially the guys, hehe).

Now I´ve become her nº 1 fan!, she does remind of of my sis a lot sometimes, and also it happens to me that, anytime my sis tell me, ooh, thats a real good actress or somth, i realized only later that she´s right and then, i focus on that character or person and end up liking same ppl she does...mm sorry hard to explain in english, and im a bit sleepy now.

Anyway, just wanted to know if anyone thinks the same about Phiby (Phoebe).

BTW, an ex-bf once told me i looked like Monica, not just physically but personality-wise!, and back at the time I didnt even watch friends, it was only then that I started to watch it to see if i could relate to her..lol, and...i definately do!! :D , except for the cooking thing...

(Joey, could be too, but not so sure since guys can have 0 empathy like he does, whether NT or AS, among other aspie traits he sometimes show.)

Edit: Sorry, i got lost in translation..hehe, its Phoebe, not phiby (thats in spanish)

First, no right-thinking (i.e., orthodox) aspie would ever watch Friends willingly. Second, Phoebe was pretty ditzy from what I know, so she probably would have had attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, predominantly inattentive type, in my opinion.

Thanx for replying and for letting me know the name in english.
Actually, you´re very right, my sis didnt like friends at all, she would never ever want to watch it, not even after asking her soooo many times to watch it, telling her Monica resembled a lot to me.

She still wouldnt watch it no matter what i told her but then one day, I brought a DVD of friends home and since we could watch it in english and thus being it her "strong interest" (she only watches movies or soap operas in english, never in spanish), she accepted to watch it with me, only for a bit of course..
But ever since that day, she started to like it, and it was then when she told me she only liked Phoebe and Joey, the rest of the characters not too much.
Thats why i thought of Phoebe being AS too, mild one just as my sis, cos she reminds me of her a lot.
And yes, maybe you´re right, she might have ADHD instead...but i still think she seems to be AS as well

All of the characters in Friends are far too social to have Asperger's syndrome. They're all very much typical NT.

Why would ANYONE think Phoebe is AS!?!?!? She is STUPID, has NO talent, has a temper, etc...

OK, she IS naive. They ALL are. THAT is from stupidity though.

As for the social problems? They have their own little network and, though they want friends, etc... Don't work for ANYTHING.

BTW Joey plays the part of the male idiot. AGAIN, STUPID, NO talent, etc...
At least JOEY every now and then shows them up.

Yeah, there is a phoebe in Charmed. THAT character plays a somewhat smart, but careless, and VERY social person. I don't think SHE is AS either. NEITHER one really seems to understand men though!

Friends is the greatest abomination against comedy in the entire history of time.

The characters, the 'jokes', the lines so cliched they make one flinch and the entire lame format in general makes me frown quite considerably.

My sister is watching it as I type this, and laughing frequently. I think that says it all.

You obviously havent watched her enough, either cos you dont like the show ,fair enough, or just were judgemental from a sexist point of view. Hope it was the first thing really.
Unlike what you think, she shows she´s highly intelligent, though she is naive (as many AS ppl), and has little or none empathy sometimes cos she cant mind read most of the times...just like my AS sis.
Stupid ppl dont come out as "eccentric", which is what she appears to be, at least for us NT´s. You´d say she is "weird" not stupid, but i like her weirdness, just like my sis, cos many of her comments are not conventional at all.

I Agree with Joey being stupid..

As for those who think AS people can not be social, you are absolutely wrong, you should read more about Aspergers for its very well known that AS women are way more social than AS men and can pass as quite "normal" in many cases, which is why is harder to diagnose them.

NeantHumain:
Maybe you are not social at all, but not every AS is like that.
Many (even men), like to socialize though they might fail to do so, or their friends might not last long, cos they dont know how to keep them. Some even have just a few friends who last for long.

You should read the posts in here, many ppl say they do socialize or have some friends/acquaintances.

So please, dont generalize with your problems cos aspies are very different from each other.

Actually, I do have some desire to socialize although I do not understand much of the ritual behind NT socialization. NTs—introverted or extraverted—know how to socialize although they vary in the amount of time they spend socializing. Phoebe and the rest of the Friends cast enjoy socializing (i.e., they are all extraverts), and they are all have good social skills.

I can understand an aspie acquiring fairly good social skills (at a later age than his or her peers) by using rigorous analysis and observation, but some social delay or deficit is a part of Asperger's syndrome by definition. I can scarcely imagine an aspie with absolutely normal social skills who is nevertheless an aspie. (There can be very social aspies, but they are often oblivious to the effects their behavior has on others.)

Well, I have mentioned I thought even some women HERE were very smart. I certainly don't think all women are stupid, or all men are smart. NO WAY! And I mentioned that Joey is stupid. HE gets loked in places, like phoebe was tricked into doing things, thinks he has talkent as she thinks she has, etc... Still, I doubt you can name a case where she was smart.

And some stupid people DO come out as eccentric.

BTW I later said poebe in charmed came off as fairly smart. She did spells, potions, etc... In real life, I like alyssa milano. I think she is a good actress. I haven't met her, so I don't know how smart she is, but she comes off as fairly intelligent, so I don't see any deficits.

And I like Phoebe Cates also. She ALSO doesn't seem to have any deficits.

I don't know HOW you can like my statements about phoebe in Friends as having ANY link to sexism! It isn't even linked to her name. As an actress, she is probably ok, but the character in friends DOES have some problems.
