I wear steel toe cap shoes all the time have done for years. When one pair starts to get a little tatty they replace the badly wrecked work pair while a new pair become the "going out somewhere pair".

Current badly wrecked pair are coming apart, leaking and have no tread left but should last a little longer!

One of the amusing things about fashion is that sometimes, far less than 1% of the population can even tell if you are in or out. I think there were about a dozen women in Victoria BC wearing saris, and only they knew which were new. As for "high fashion" - those models on the runway don't even remind me of humans.

Even though it is not my fault, I'm sorry you gals have to expend the time and effort to deal with that burden in life.

Remember the guy a couple of years ago, in AFAIR, Hong Kong, who jumped to his death after seven hours of following his girlfriend around the stores?

I'm pretty sure she had her own money. It was the seemingly pointless insatiability that got him, and the boredom of being a porter.

the psychologists say that people with ASD are known to buy the same clothes, or own several items in their closet that are exactly the same (i.e. black t-shirt etc).

This is done apparently so as to reduce the amount of stress caused by finding oneself undecided as to what to where.
Logically speaking, if you own 20 T-shirts, all exactly the same, then every day you don't have to think about what to wear, and no stress or time wasted considering whether to wear this t-shirt or that t-shirt

as all your t-shirts are the same, so you have no other options, which takes away the time and stress of the process.

I like what i like and don't follow fashion
this is how i generally dress. quick, low stress, low fuss. Stability. Organised through simplicity.

Deciding what to wear is very simple for me. If I might damage my clothes while working, or I don't expect to socialize, I pick the stuff that's almost worn out. I buy used clothes that remind me of what I have, on the assumption that if it does not really stand out on the racks, it is OK fashion-wise.
I only ever knew one man who would look in the mirror and change clothes before going out. He was very successful with the ladies, despite a rather unattractive face.

Not all women like shopping. I hate shopping and do it as little as possible. I don't follow fashion but it affects what is available. I shop by criteria. Mostly men's clothes are better quality and don't change so much.

I was speaking, as an NT...When i stated "women", i meant it as a general rule...And yes, you are right that there are always exceptions to the rule itself...I enjoy shopping like the typical lady...When i have the time, if i am in the mood, and i have the monetary means for it...It is almost therapeutic...When young i used to enjoy "window shopping", like dreaming of having such and such in the near future, when i would have the means...Now as a grown- up, window shopping would be torture!! !... :D :D :D

I minimize my time clothes shopping while still bargain hunting. However, I once talked my way into a big trade show for hardware wholesalers. A friend took me to a huge sale of computer surplus. I never used to transit Seattle without a stop at the Boeing surplus store, until the beancounters from a merger started flying the rejects. I even tour the local garage sales, even though I'll have to hold my own sale if I buy much more.
I once tried to return a pair of pants that had worn out quickly. When asked what I didn't like about them, what came out was "They don't COVER me."

I buy my sneakers online. I wear an 8 1/2 wide. I never had too much problems with fit shopping online.

If I buy dress shoes, I'd go for an 8, with an E or EE width. I think I'd be okay with that.

I had read about this before...And i can attest to it in the case of my beloved (Aspie) husband...He inclines towards the color RED, which suits him great by the way...Fortunately, since our marriage, i have succeeded in incorporating more colors onto his wardrobe...He has always had great taste...Possibly due to the Caribbean influences from his native land...He and his unique style really stand-out in a good way...I love it!! !

I've gotten the same brand and type of shoe since I was 11. I don't have any desire to wear any other type of shoe.

I do this. Most of my shirts are green, besides for my Zelda shirt, and I wear only t-shirts and the same type of pants and shorts. I put them together into specific outfits based on how comfortable the outfit is and then I just kind of cycle through them.
