My local church once ran out of communion wine due to an oversight. The deacon, who was also the town grocer, made a dash to his store and mixed grape juice with vinegar. Nobody noticed.

I hear that Disneyland had an "English Pub." They were glad to hire a waiter with an authentic English accent. Soon, an overheated, overweight refugee from the lineups collapsed into a chair and asked for a Budweiser. The waiter said they didn't have that, and several more. "Just bring me the closest thing to an American beer you have." He got a water.

Wine is the one alcohol I genuinely enjoy drinking.

NOT that I appreciate it at 10am on a regular Christmas morning (not this year) when my auntie offers it. To me, it's something you drink after tea at 7pm ideally.

On Christmas I used to take a swig of egg nog or green wine in the liquor cabinet as a kid. That stuff at least is pleasant. I wasn't terribly clever though in replacing the removed wine with water which resulted in appropriate punishment.

Vodka is best served neat.
Ask any Russian.

If you have to mix it, it's subpar quality.

You are mostly right. Mixing vodka with water sometimes because that preserves the taste.
Prefering Irish whisky or rarely Scotch, Russian vodka (but few sorts only e.g. Beluga or Baikal) or a good Cuban rum. If it comes to rum then there are very huge differences. Same as for whisky.

So I take it communion wine does not taste very good...if it tastes like grape juice and vinegar.

I enjoy it, though I have certainly had wine I don't like...but if its one I like then it is enjoyable.

Never could get into wine, I did like those West coast coolers that were popular in the 80's they were wine with citris juice in them, I don't think you can get them anymore.

I'm drinking wine sometimes. I prefere Dornfelder sweet or semidry if it comes to red one and light, sweet an fruity German wines if it comes to white wine. There are really great ones. Also the wine trade fairs are fun.

Shame on that deacon ....brilliant innovation but wine needs to be blessed.
