To answer your question:yes ... it is possible to be on the autism spectrum, and not have food issues.

As an adult I dont have much in the way of "food issues".

Some quirks like I prefer unmelted cheese to melted cheese in most subway subs.

It took me a while to like tortellini because to me tortellini things look like human ears.

having food issues is not included in the DSM, having sensory struggles in general is enough, but even that is not included as a major diagnostic factor.

I don’t have any sensory issues around food, but I did refuse food like milk and cheese until my late teens when I felt brave enough to try.

I also didn’t realise until well into adulthood that my gut is sensitive to some foods such as garlic, onion, some fruits and that I’m best to avoid them completely. I generally follow a low FODMAP diet, which helps. This seems to be a commonly noted problem with others who have ASD and gut related health issues.

Is there a WP discussion thread devoted to food issues stemming from the Autism Spectrum?

I've never really been a fussy eater.

My daughter is though so it's quite easy for me to adapt to what she likes.

I love a variety of foods, I keep thinking I'm the only one! I am 'fussy' about sandwiches tho. They can't be too thick or have certain combinations. I also eat everything on the plate separately.

I was never a picky eater, I ate anything my mom gave me. There was very few foods I didn't like or didn't care about.

I never liked milk and only liked it with cereal. I didn't like the lasagna my mom made because she put way too much textures in it and it made it taste awful. She would make it knowing full well us kids didn't like it. I mean kids are allowed to not like all foods too just like adults but I think adults forget kids are also human and have their own likes and dislikes just like an adult. But anyway I only like lasagna with cheese and sauce and the pasta. Meat is okay too.
