I work for the federal government (army) and the Combined Federal Campaign is coming up. Basically, it's a list of a couple thousand charities to choose from that you can setup an allotment to so that some money is donated from each paycheck. One of them is the Asperger's Association of New England. I'm thinking of choosing them, but would like hear some more opinions about them before I do. Thanks.

I think it's OK, I don't know which are the other charities, but it would be great for AS related investigations :)

There is an EXCELLENT agency for the treatment of individuals with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome in Upstate New York known
as the KELBERMAN CENTER FOR AUTISM. Since Asperger's Syndrome has only been recognized since 1994, the Kelberman Center
for Autism largely serves children and young adults. They have a preschool program called the "Promise Program," "TradeWinds,"
which is a school program for older kids, residential housing for children, youth and adults with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome,
a support group for individuals who must be at least age 15 to join and they are presently working on developing a summer camp
for individuals with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome.

If interested in learning more, you can find them on the Internet at: www. kelbermancenter.org

With more and more recognition and monetary funding, the Kelberman Center for Autism keep expanding their services. The outstanding services they provide in central New York State is prehaps the only reason for living in such a HIGH TAX state like New York.

Thanks for the input so far. Unfortunately, I can only donate to the charities on the list, so the Kelberman Center is out. The other autism related ones are: Autism Speaks, Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, Organization for Autism, The Autism Society of America Foundation, and the Autism Society of America. Does anyone know anything about them?

Oh boy, that is quite the limited choice there... all depends on your view of autism and whether you believe it should be cured or not. You might want to go look at their websites and see what their mission statements say and go based on that.

Autismspeaks.org was started by an NBC executive and they get alot of funding.
Unfortunately, like Corporate America, they do VERY LITTLE for us common folk.
