Do you keep your home tidy? I find it incredibly difficult, and I'm not sure whether it's because I am not interested in doing the things that make my home tidy or something else. Whenever I think about tidying up I feel intensely anxious. If my home gets too messy, I feel intensely anxious. The anxiety turns into self-hate. Can anyone relate? Or do you enjoy keeping everything tidy?
Also, if anyone knows of any companies that help people to tidy or tidy homes of hoarders (I'm certainly not that severe yet) please let me know. I think it would be a great idea for a business, but never in a million years would I be able to start one.

Was tidy until ME/CFS hit about a decade and a half ago.
Now there simply isn't enough energy to both live life and stay tidy.
And it bugs me.
Sometimes hire help with housekeeping.
But there's only so much money to go around, even though my parents do help me pay for things.

I try to keep my place clean.....but I hate 'big cleaning projects." For those, when I can afford it, I hire a cleaning person.

At my worst, I'm "messy," but never dirty. I do the dishes. I take out the garbage. I don't leave rotten food in the refrigerator.

I'm messy. I get stressed at the clutter sometimes but I don't mind a bit of mess. Due to ADHD I find organising and tidying things very difficult because I just can't focus or get my head round it. I find it really hard to throw things away because I get attached to things and also I think I might need them for future use. I really need help when it comes to sorting out things like my wardrobe. There are clothes that I don't wear because of itchy tags that itch even after cutting them out, but I don't want to get rid of because they are formal and I might need to wear them in the future for a formal occasion or something.

Sometimes I wish there was a portal in the wall where I can throw everything I don't use much but don't want to get rid of into it and it becomes non-existent until I reach my hand in and pull something back out. Then you can have your cake AND eat it; have a neat, clutter-free home but keep all your clutter too.

I don't have a basement or an attic by the way.

I always postpone doing things like cleaning, doing the dishes etc until it's this massive task that makes it even harder to deal with.
I'm also not good at throwing things away, not because I get attached, but one never knows when a bottle of expired wood glue or a dull saw blade may be of some use...
And books, I just cannot bring myself to throw away books.

Funny thing is I'm really organized and keeps good order at work.

Well I'm a mixture of things really.

On the one hand I keep a clean home. But at the same time it's quite untidy as well.

I get cluttered but then , about once a month, have a session or two of throwing everything unnecessary out.

I am not good at organizing. If I have put something away, I won't be able to guess if it is filed by shape, size, material or last intended use. I can find the most things if they all have one corner showing. If I want a paper, chronological order is usually my best clue.
I would have far fewer things to keep track of if not for my workshop tools and materials. I have been unlucky about choosing what to throw away, and now am too reluctant. "If I get enough odd lumber, I won't need a saw." Also, scrap is cheaper and handier than store stuff.
Recently, I put up a new shelf to get things off the floor, which helps, but I should consider that occasionally having to re-purchase something tossed is worth it for the "rent" saved.
I keep things pretty sanitary, but I like to see a difference when I clean. Some time doing metalwork served me well - half the chores make nasty dirt, and the other half have to be super clean, so I can keep zones well.

I love throwing things away. I live in a small flat so it doesn't take much to fill it up with junk.

I won't throw away my books either. I've only been reading for about 4 years so they're still pretty special to me. I was thinking of perhaps donating them to the neighbourhood library at some point but not just yet. And even then there are certain ones that I just wouldn't part with.

I'm both tidy and messy. Depends what the stuff in question happens to be. I try to keep things simple so that it's easier to keep them neat. I'm reluctant to bring anything into my home if I don't know where it's going to go. My main rule about tidyness, which is "don't let the untidyness get any worse." A lot of my stuff doesn't look very neat but it's relatively well-ordered in a functional kind of way, like being mostly together with like. There's usually a good reason for most things being where they are. But there's a lot of room for improvement because there's a lot of stuff. I used to be much messier and I accumulated a lot of stuff. It feels too difficult and time-consuming to tidy all that up, so it stays behind closed doors in rooms I hardly ever use.

I hate mess. I like my things to be nice and neat otherwise it gets overwhelming just looking at stuff everywhere.

Sometimes I think I need a helper. A cleaner, a cook and a personal assistant.
