-As a kid and it still crops up today: Architecture, designing houses, etc. SIMS really fed this obsession.

-Mormonism. I'm an ex-Mormon and am fascinated by the religion and all the stuff I never knew about their doctrine and history as a believer.

-Home improvement and decorating. This is always an interest of mine, but I get more obsessive when I'm in a manic, ultra creative phase.

-Furry friends. I have 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 guinea pigs. I wish I had acreage so I could have llamas, a horse, and a cow.

-Aspergers, PDD, in children. I have a 9 y/o aspie daughter and 5 y/o son will be assessed soon. Don't know if he's AS, HFA, or Fragile X, but something is going on with him. He's adopted, so it's not as clear-cut speculation as it would be if her were biological.

-Internet BBs on my favorite topics.

I dont know about most obsessive obsession, but my longest running one has to be wargaming. I have literally mounds of wargames and wargames related stuff. I even have a war room. Its the one obsession that never goes away. Most of my heaviest obsessions are related to this.. military history, then the rest of history but with a military slant.. fictional military operations

I seem to be more inclined to hit a particular subject, exhaust it completely, then move on to the next one. This week it is mostly Rogue trooper (2000AD comic book character) inspired after I picked up the ps2 game cheap.
That and old lampposts and trolleybuses, brought on whilst researching a picture for the local pubs landlord.

Thinking on it, a lot of my more recent obsessions have involved returning to things I had or knew as a child.. a lot of nostalgic sojourns through old toys and cartoons.

Other than that, teh internetz figures quite highly, possibly because its such a good tool to have obsessions on, and a great place to feed my obsessive need for films and documentaries, and my other obsessions, which are best kept to more adult threads methinks.

However, more worryingly, i seem to be developing an obsession with the mortality of mankind, and not just in a cheesy goth "i like skulls" way either. (Been there, done that.) Not sure why exactly, but it preys on my mind a lot.

I bought you that! Bah!

I get obsessed with things quite randomly, as I get bored easily. If I get a new album, I have to listen to it until I at least know most of the lyrics. And then I can just leave it alone for months on end.
But I get obsessed with music in general especially. I get a bit restless and frustrated if I haven't downloaded or bought an album in the past week or so.

I go through a lot of food fads, such as cheese toasties and cucumber and salad cream sandwiches.

The longest obsession I've had (apart from the music one) is socks. I can't get enough of them. I can't go in and out of a clothes shop without buying a pair if I have money in my pocket. I love socks.

You butter some bread, then put slices of cheese on the side that isn't buttered, make it into a "reverse" sandwich if you will, and put it under the grill or in a George Forman style thing. It toasts the bread up nicely, and melts the cheese. It's hella nice. Branston pickle with it makes it nice too.

Slices of cucumber and spread salad cream are in the next one. Explains itself, really.

Thanks. :D

I forgot one other obsession.. that's VERY large and has lasted nearly 10 years.. the INTERNET. I'm on it for a good 16 hours a day. (and I also wonder why I forgot about it.. might be that it's such a great part in my life now that I see it as my life)

My main obsession growing up, even now, is videogames. I used to know when most games were coming out since I read videogame magazines a lot. Probably just as much as I played games. With the internet I still have times when I will spend hours reading about the latest gaming news, but don't do it all the time, thankfully.

My other obsession is anime and manga. I don't watch as much as I like, but I normally don't go a day without seeing something related. My obsession is the reason why I am learning Japanese now. Need to seriously work on my spoken speech, but I'm doing okay concerning the level I'm at. Still a long ways away from the 2300 kanji needed to be considered literate.

I had a time with Pokemon and Magic: The Gathering but that time has long since passed. I tried to get back into it a few months ago, but I just don't have the flare for it like I did before.

Oh, and rhythm based games, such as DDR, Guitar Freaks, IIDX, Pump It Up, etc. I enjoy playing these games a lot. Challenging, fun, and have excellent music. I started a thread a month ago asking advice about starting a instrument, but over time of thinking seriously I dropped the idea. While the idea of playing a instrument sounds like fun, I don't want to put the time/effort that is needed to just be able to play decently. I'm content with these games. I often listen to the music on my Zune.
