Your Aspie score: 181 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 21 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

did this test make sense to everyone? Although it was helpful and it did hit a lot on my problem areas/non NT like behavior I guess. Am I really an aspie or just different. Everyone says I'm different...okay guess I'll accept this. What does it mean!! I'm a psychology major BTW. O deary. It's funny, you do and don't notice how different you really are (i think)....

Well, here's an interesting example of the probable genetic component of Asperger Syndrome. I've had little contact with my immediate family over the last 5 years, the only contact being through email about 3 years ago. I finally emailed one of my brothers on Sunday and explained that I've recently discovered AS and have self-diagnosed as an Aspie. He replied that he has also recently discovered AS and has self-diagnosed as an Aspie.

He also said that he believes that our father (who killed himself in 1991) was an Aspie. This is something that I've also thought but I didn't even mention it in my original email to him. We have another brother, but we both agree that although he seems to have some Aspie traits, we don't think he's affected enough to be considered an Aspie. The same may be true about our mother...some traits, but not an Aspie.

I asked him to take the Aspie quiz and he is 'very likely an Aspie', just like me. I've posted my results in this thread already, but I'm including them again as a comparison to my brother's results.

My results:
Your Aspie score: 189 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 14 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

My brother's results:
Your Aspie score: 176 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 30 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie

Aspie Score: 89 of 200 (Lower than my first test, but higher than the second time)

I scored high on Excessive Social Anxiety (7 of 8), but low on the other tests. According to this test, my main problem appears to be anxiety rather than AS, but anxiety is one of my strongest indicators of the syndrome, along with unusual interests.

Kind of, but getting nervous making speeches seems to be related to social phobia, which is basically misdiagnosed ASD. [quote]

I'm curious how you would explain my scores then:

Your Aspie score: 78 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 141 of 200
You are very likely neurotypical

Excessive social anxiety 8 of 8

I've often thought I must have AS, even though I don't really meet all the criteria. I've been to 9 doctors trying to get diagnosed, including 4 who have a lot of experience diagnosing people with AS or autism. They all tell me I don't have AS, but do have social anxiety disorder/avoidant personality disorder. I don't know what to think! Also I'm a woman--do women Aspies typically get misdiagnosed with social anxiety disorder?

----->CLICK HERE FOR THE SPQ AND SPQ B TEST AND FOLLOW-UP INFO

I am posting this for those of you who might wonder about the spq test.
Although this site does not really spell out the why's of the test, you can take it again and read the last page about the scores.

There is an email address on these pages, so you might try to contact these folks as USC.

Do those other things-social anxiety disorder and avoidant personality disorder not cover everything as well? I can't remember what those include exactly.

My score:
Aspie score: 160/200
NT score: 42/200
SPQ score: 55/74

So, it's very likely I'm an Aspie. No probs with that. But even after reading all these posts I'm still unclear on the SPQ score. Does my score mean I am very likely Schizophrenic (or a mild form of it)? Is there a yes/no answer to this? Is this something I should mention to my doctor the next time I see him?

I found some of those questions difficult (eg telepathy, aliens, clairvoyance, etc) as when I have had things like that happen to me on some occasions there were witnesses to it. Weird things have been happening around me all my life.

I totally dislike the SPQ test, as many of the questions are either totally ambiguous or extremely biased. For example, I answered “yes” to 71% of the odd beliefs/magical thinking, which would be somewhat suspicious if I were not pagan! As for my other three big scores: I am socially anxious because I have tried (and failed) so many times to fit into the NT world; my odd or eccentric behavior (special interests, inappropriate jokes, and thinking outside the box) are normal for Aspies; my odd speech (mumbling, talking too loudly/softly, repeating lines from the Simpsons, etc.) are normal for Aspies as well. Interestingly enough, I have always had high Schizoid scores on personality profile tests, which just goes to prove that the Autistic Spectrum and certain personality disorders do overlap.

I got 145/200 in july when i took the test
Now, I took it again (september) and I get 121/200

It is weird, as I am still the same person and I am no less of an aspie.

I think when I was a child if I had taken the test I would have got about 160
but throughout life NTs have sort of beaten social skills into me (not literally) and not in a nice way.

I am living in a large house full of I suspect about 90% NTs.. I have learnt an incredible amount about them. Most of them dont like me very much and I struggle with talking to them every day. I find they expect behaviours of me that I find unnatural and if I forget to talk in certain ways I get weird looks or silences.

But i think I have learnt a lot about NT behaviour, one day I will write an informative thread on it that I hope will interest and help people.

I took it and got about 100/200 on both of them. Apparently, I've got both aspie and NT traits.

I kinda figured I was at least half-aspie. But then again, social maturation may have well skewed the score a bit. If I had taken the same test, say, 5 years earlier, the aspie score would have been higher.

Apparently I am neurotypical, even though I've answered every question truthfully and I've been through this same quiz 3 times and received the same result.

Every time my Aspies score is between 82 and 90, out of 200.
My NT score is the remaining score.
