Does anyone else hate the Linux analogy?

I have a hard time understanding the analogy so I don’t have any judgment on it. It depends what we prefer.
I don’t think most HFA are so different than neurotypicals: we run the same neurotypical software.
I like Linux, then Apple and I like Windows a little less because I find the latter much less accessible in terms of menuing.

That may have been true a decade or more ago, but there are quite a few Linux distros now where you rarely, if ever, 'have to' use the command line. That certainly applies to Linux Mint and the excellent MX Linux (which I've been using for years). There are others based on Debian and Ubuntu that are pretty user-friendly as well. Don't know about the Red Hat distros, and the Arch-based ones are almost certainly for hardcore users, I would have thought.

Apple is awesome. Or was awesome ten years ago. Better than this windows stuff I use now.

Dont know from Linux.

I don't know man, 10 years ago I used a mac that looked like this. It wasn't a good experience.

I hate the NDs are Androids and NTs are iPhones even more, and insist that it's the reverse, that NDs are iPhones and NTs are Androids, because iPhones are prettier, and I want to be the pretty, popular, feminine one.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I understand how you feel

The computer OS analogy was never that good an analogy anyway

Living things have genes, harmful mutations or faults stop those genes doing what they are supposed to do.

That was the next model after the model I used. So I guess I meant 15 years ago.

I don't think Linux is a great OS at all. It's a horrible Unix clone with a legacy from the 70s. At least Windows dumped DOS compatibility and actually is a modern OS design. Still, Windows is closed source and trying to take over the world, which is no good either.

Anyway, I don't think the poor design of Linux is anything I want to be associated with.

I find Windows 10 to be bearable with a Windows 7 skin applied.

But back to the subject.

The human brain is comparable to the ...hardware of the computer.

The human mind is comparable to the ...software of the computer.

A person who is literally brain damaged has damaged hardware.
A person traumatized by bad experiences or bad parenting and seeks pyschotherapy has a software problem.

Operating systems are software. Not hardware. But autism is caused by a physical hardware difference.

I'm not a Linux fan. Plug-and-pray, have to use the command line to get anything to work, tech support from snarky nerds. Don't ever compare me to Linux, or I'll do what Linux usually does and not install network device drivers and never talk to you.

Which disproves the theory of dualism!

Whoops, sorry I went off-topic again.

Another way to think about this issue is the gray matter/white matter dichotomy and how these different types of brain matter can have differing characteristics in autistic folk versus control populations.

As a simple analogy, gray matter of the brain is more modular in nature than white matter, whilst white matter helps with communication between different regions of the brain, which gray matter makes up.

A good article below detailing some findings of a particular study, regarding gray/white matter in autism:

Highlights:

- Autistic traits exist along a continuum across the population.
- Autistic traits linked to brain structure differences, measured using MRI and DTI.
- Gray matter differences noted in regions including OFC and Lingual Gyrus.
- White matter differences noted in tracts including ILF, IFOF, SLF.

*Welcome here.

I wouldn't want to be NT.

We are different between NT and ND.

Brain studies demonstrate even more that being autistic is largely genetic.

*We are like that.

*We are just fewer (less numerous than Neurotypicals)

That's all.

Excuse my bad English.

A few minutes ago I had to explain to one of us that my post was a compliment to him.

Our problem is mainly communicative.

It is also true in my language which I speak very well.

MacOS is derived from BSD which is a different Unix distribution, unrelated to Linux. I believe Steve Jobs turned his nose up at Linux precisely because of its popularity. He generally preferred for his technology to have as little as possible in common with anybody else's. For the same reason, he decreed that Objective-C, a language nobody was using, be the preferred Macintosh programming language (later Apple created Swift which was developed entirely in-house).
