There are some fictional characters that I think might be Aspies.

-Ariel (voiced by Jodi Benson) from "The Little Mermaid"

-Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck) from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"

-George Newman ("Weird" Al Yankovic) from "UHF"

-Butters Stotch (voiced by Matt Stone) from "South Park"

-Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) from the "Back To The Future" movies

-Robert Goren (Vincent D'Onofrio) from "Law And Order: Criminal Intent"

I think Jack Nicholson's fictional character on As Good As it Gets is an Aspie. Big time! He makes rude and insensitive comments. He eats at the same place and same meal everyday. He hates something new comming into his environment. He is a writer. I could go on and on.

It's generally agreed that Lewis Carroll was an ASpie. Never married, fixated on young girls, enjoyed the company of children more than adults, a good mathematician, wildly creative...

But NOT Mark Twain. IIRC, Twain actually visited Carroll on one of his trips. He thought him very odd, and quite shy.

Asperger's affect people differently. I find a lot of people on Wrongplanet odd (I'm sure a lot of people find me odd as well, even though I'm diagnosed with AS), I also find some famous aspies/HFAs like Craig Nicholls extremely odd. Mark Twain was also seen as odd by many, but back then the society didn't expect much of you socially, and therefore it's hard to see if someone back then was an aspie.

Hmmm. So is it possible that Michael Jackson isn't really a pedophile and that he just bonds with kids because he has Asperger Syndrome. It would explain so much. Wow, now I feel so bad "knowing" that he was a pedophile when in actuality those are the people who he could only communicate with. Of course he would want them to sleep overnight, because that is what kids do.

I have wondered myself if that is the case with Michael ? I have read in a biography of him that he didn't get a driver's liscense till he was 23. It also stated that he had sex with Liberace's boy toy in 1979 and they had a secert relatsonship until Thriller came out.

Being an ASpie doesn't turn off a person's conscience. Unless they are grossly self-deluded, pedophiles know they're doing a bad thing.

So far as I can determine, the only people who have been diagnosed on this list are Craig Nicholls and Vernon Smith. Have you sources for this assertion?

I know there is a published book where it mentions that Courtney Love was diagnosed as a young girl

That something has been published doesn't really mean very much. Publisher's don't check accuracy. I'd rather see what the author cites as his/her sources. Seeing as she was born in 1964, if she was diagnosed as an Aspie, she'd have been at least 30 at the time.

I was reading up on James Joyce. He may have just been odd, but could have been an ASpie. He certainly stands out as being famous for a very small body of work. Interesting that "Finnegan's Wake" was regarded as rubbish by some of his contemporaries.

i'm conviced that viggo mortensen is an aspie.....tolkien as well

i'll bet there are more aspie actors than we think there are, just like are lots more homosexual actors than we know of (which is sad, they sould be able to b 'out' and not have to worry about it affecting their career by getting them typecast)
