I would like to know one thing - do you guys do "reset cleaning" or do cleaning every day?

I was always taught that apartment must be so clean like I am waiting for unexpected guests. Strangely, I just stayed in this way of cleaning, but both of my siblings didn't.

I moved out from my parents four years ago, and even though apart from my family, I don't have many visitors, but my apartment is always nice and tidy.

I don't enjoy cleaning that much, it is more like I love when my things are in their place, so maintaing order is way easier this way. So cleaning is just byproduct of keeping my apartment always tidy and organised.

I can't stand to see my clothes laying around or having a sink full of dirty dishes. It is like a compulsion to put my things away where they belong.

So my question is - Is it weird?

I've always been very messy but ever since I moved into my current place 4 years ago I've been pretty good about cleaning up as I go, generally keeping things relatively uncluttered and somewhat clean. It's very small, so that may be part of the reason why I've been keeping it clean. I also had a friend who was very neat who would come over about once a week just to pick me up to go out to lunch, but that was enough reason to keep things somewhat tidy. (Now he has a girlfriend so I don't see him anymore except on a very rare occasion.) My bf comes over once a week or so, so I do try to keep things neat for him too, though he is less fussy.

some people find a lot of comfort and security in keeping things in order. there are probably as many degrees of clean and orderly as there are people! If it makes you feel your best without distress , its a go!

I am the same, I certainly do not leave clothes lying on the floor. I do leave my sink full of dirty dishes, but only to conserve electricity, because I only want to run the dishwasher twice a week, not every day.

I keep my house in moderate order, enough to find things, and avoid clutter. I do NOT clean every day, but I do clean every week. I don't mop the floor but once a quarter. The main thing I do is pick up these furballs that cluster around the house from my two cats.

Tip for dirty dishes from someone who is both a slob and neat: I put my dirty dishes in the refrigerator until I'm ready to wash them. That way they don't look untidy and they also don't attract bugs.

I keep food in my fridge...no room for dishes.
I have doggy pre-wash, so the dishes can build up on the sink for a week. So a cup, a plate, sharp knife, dinner knife and fork and 2 or 3 teaspoons a day, a small pot and or frying pan and a cutting board.
With my partner away for months I've had to re-learn when to use the washing machine I was previously forbidden to touch. Why is it I can remember to hang out towels, but keep forgetting the good t-shirts?

I was typically scruffy as a teenager and only reformed very gradually. Even now it's rather piecemeal. I couldn't stand a scheduled cleaning routine. I'd feel that my life wasn't my own, but maybe one day I'll reconsider that. If I happen to notice that something's got dirty, I usually can't resist the urge to clean it, as long as I know how to do it without a lot of fuss and bother. But I'm rather tunnel-visioned, and if I don't notice a problem, I don't think to solve it.

I'm great at cleaning utensils and dishes after cooking or eating, and I keep my meals simple so that's easy. "Never heard" of a dishwasher. Can't stand it when anybody fills the sink with dirty dishes, because it gets past the point of no comfortable return, so I'm sorely tempted to urge them to clean up as they go along, like I do.

I'm a great believer in "don't get it dirty and you won't have to clean it." I'd rather change the way I use something than build up a load of cleaning chores. I often consider letting things ride, from a scientific perspective - clean nothing till there's a serious hygiene risk or practical downside - but I can also get quite houseproud and fastidious. I see clear, trip-hazard free gangways as essential.

My fridge isn't big enough for that, but I admire the applied laziness. Society tends to praise hard work too much, even when it's inefficient and a waste of effort.

I don't step outside my comfort zone because I'm still looking for it, so taking on a load of chores would just feel like abandoning any hope of comfort forever. But I do work hard at making my life a bit easier.

Yeah mine fridge is not very big either. So even though it sounds pretty appealing, I can't do it.

I don't have a dishwasher and my sink is pretty small...Few things and it's full. And another thing - I hate the smell of unwashed dishes. Fore my nose it's smelly as a trash bin. I was always sensitive to smells. That's why I learned to wash the dishes while I am cooking. Or if it's dry i put them first in water and then wash them.

I do very little cleaning. Can't due to back injuries, so I relax my standards a lot and wear older glasses. My husband washes dishes and our first son does vacuuming. For other things we'll do "family cleaning" once in a while. If ever I don't have help any more, I'll have to be very careful not to make any mess, or take big dose of painkillers. I hope that I'll be rich enough to hire a house cleaner someday instead of sacrificing my health.
