My therapist said to me that one of the typical behaviors of an Aspie is collecting (that is, with more enthusiasm and interest than most NTs). I, for example, am a Bible version collector, and I would say I have about 40+ versions.

Are you a pretty fanatical collector of a certain thing or things? By "fanatical", I don't mean obsessive (interferring adversely with daily life), but enthusiastically.

I tend to borderline on obsessive when I collect things. I have to have all of something once I get started. Then I have to lose interest or get bored with something and move on to the next thing.

And it extends to everything I do. I find an author I like I have to read everything by that author. I find a band I like, I have to have everything they did.

Makes it difficult to walk out of stores sometimes. Hard on the wallet, too!

I collect old EC comics from the 1950's
DVD movies and Anime series, and PS2,PSP games and movies.

I enjoy it. I like the feeling of completeness and getting to fixate over stuff. It's also fun to re-ordewr them. first alpha, then scock (OEM) number, then UPC number, then by studio/publisher.

Ahhhhhhhh good times!

I hear you, Kateyjane!! It is SO hard to maintain an interest in ANYTHING for very long! I collected mallard duck figurines for a while, then star charts and astronomy field guides, then on to NFL football cards, all of which fell by the wayside as quickly as they entered my life! Speaking of authors, have you read anything by Greg Iles? His books "Spandau Phoenix", "Mortal Fear", and "24 Hours" are AWESOME!! !! !! I guarentee if you read one of his books, you'll want to read ALL of them!! !! !!

Hey, CockneyRebel, what IS a Routemaster anyhow? I'm curious!

I collect minerals. I have several thousand mineral specimens and I can identify my entire collection by touch behind my back. I started collecting when ~6 and I had a display by 10 years old. I have a rockery in my back garden made up of large rocks I collected. The first time I ever hugged anything with enthusiasm was a large boulder that had lots of quartz crystals (in 1999) ... I was then given the knick name Diamond Dave on that day by a classmate. My favorite mineral is the tourmaline group because of it complex chemistry, unlimited colors and strange piezo- and pyroelectric properties. I also collect mineral books.

Hey, Diamondavej! That photo was just precious! Now, THAT is a very cool thing to collect, and I think you have most definitely earned your nickname!!

I collect Starlight Express merchandise. :) I have 6 different recordings of the show (including the rare Japan tour version and live Bochum version ^-^ ), and loads of leaflets and programmes from the show, as well as several posters, a mug, some 3D glasses and a Starlight Express jigsaw puzzle. :D

The only thing I collect are obsessions. Just kidding. I'm too broke to collect anything material so I guess the only thing I can afford to collect are thoughts and ideas.

I did some Transformer toy collecting for awhile. I collected the reissues and Alternator/Binaltechs. I had to stop since it was getting too expensive at $50 or more for a figure.
I have a collection of Gundam models too. I'd like to get every master grade, but again, too expensive and time consuming.
I collect some odd and old coins I find. It's nothing too serious though.

I collect Hellsing manga and DVDs. I almost broke down in tears when I found out that the company that licenses the OVA for the US market is going out of business.

I get urges, but I usually don't act on them. It was worse when I was younger - rocks was first I think, then for years I collected siamese cat figurines ( I still get new ones occasionally.) I used to obsess over getting all of everything when I was younger, but I didn't have money and my mom would've thought it was weird so I never did. Now I like to collect DVDs of shows, but I don't, because they cost a lot.

I collect:

RECORDS!! (7"s and 12"s)
guitars
guitar strings
plastic rats
antlers and animal bones that I find in the woods
maps/globes
Halloween decorations
stickers

My weirdest (most aspie-like?) collection consisted of banana stickers. I arranged them in chronological order on notebook paper. I would try to go to different markets in order to find different banana stickers.
