Ok, I've heard about social camouflage where people use things such as headphones to avoid conversation. But It's kinda confusing in my case because people don't even bother paying attention to me or don't want to when in public. Or so it seems that way. It's only weird because pretty much only those I know, those who's job is to provide assistance, or if I make an effort myself really speak to me. I don't know, it's pretty much a strange occurence that I keep noticing. Anyone else have this kind of thing happeneing to them?

I've had a similar experience. I usually listen to music when waiting for the bus to avoid strangers approaching me. But it still happens. They see my headphones! They're NOT blind! I wish they'd pick up on it that I am mostly nonverbal when they say, "A!" or "excuse me, sir" and I don't answer. But no. No no. I am only comfortable with American Sign Language (ASL) and if they don't SHOW me they know ASL, I refuse to communicate with them. But when they get too close to me like that, I usually try to make a gesture that means, "go away!" but when they ignore my gesture, I verbally exclaim, "F*** off!" and then they take off running. I just really feel awkward when I'm not with people who know ASL.

I seem to find that people pay more attention to me when I'm weraing headphones, but I think that's more of a Murphy's Law kind of thing... they just have to talk to me when I'm busy listening to my music. Otherwise, they have no trouble ignoring me. I could shave off half my hair, dye the rest pink and hop on one foot from class to class, and no one would say a word...
Not that I often do things like that. :)

It's such a beautiful language. I'm learning more, slowly.

In mine opinion the correct response is to tap ur head phoned pointedly,
if they still try to talk to you, you give them the finger.
Then agen this never happens to me no one ever approaches me
Something to do with the fact I look like I want to kill when I am lost in thought

I would try not to do anything rude (for multiple reasons). If you use sign language, maybe just sign something and they'll assume you're deaf or whatever...oh, except the headphones...well, even still they'll catch on maybe.

Some people don't make many waves, so they're seemingly invisible, i.e. getting lost in the crowd. Maybe you need to put yourself out there a bit more, if it's bothering you.
