You didn't put in an option for contacts... I wear the acuvue advance, and I just never take them out.. just change 'em every few months. (They last longer if you don't pull them in and out of your eyes every night.. lol. Not supposed to leave 'em in, but I do.) I find glasses really disorienting.

unfortunately I need them yes but I dont like to show myself in glasses, always felt stupid and uncomfortable in them
so when beeing outdoors and meeting others I always wear contacts

Maggiedoll: I could never keep the contact in all the time like you. I feel its itchy my eye after only a few hours and want it off....

Have worn glasses since I was 5. Inherited my aspie dad's vision correction exactly. Tried contacts in my teens, but I also inherited ocular rosacea from my mom's side of the family, which is made much worse by contacts. So glasses are just part of the package.

I wear glasses and prefer them to contacts. And yeah, they're necessary; I can't drive without them (I am assuming that's what you mean by "necessary".) Actually, I'm legally blind without the glasses, can't make out the big letter on top of the eye chart, but they don't look too bad because when I got them, Mom chipped in extra for a lens with a very high refractive index, so that the glasses don't have that Coke-bottle look to them. The optometrist told her that if I didn't get a specialized lens, I'd probably get a sore nose because the glasses would be so heavy! I'm going to need a new prescription soon; I'm starting to have trouble reading the whiteboard when I go to class. This time, Mom's not buying them, but I have Medicaid now, and that'll pay for a pair of glasses. I think. I hope.

-2 and -1.5 eyes so yup, glasses (or is it -1.5 and -1, meh). Wear em most of the time, not such a big deal.

I definitely need glasses/contacts to see. Without glasses or contacts, I am legally blind.

I never liked wearing glasses though. I don't like the way I look in glasses so I prefer to wear contacts.

Usually when I'm at home I wear glasses because they are easier to put on, and when I go out I usually wear contacts.

Yes, i'm always wearing either contacts or glasses. I like contacts better though, because then i don't have anything sitting on my face.. I don't notice the contacts on my eye much at all. Very nearsighted. I forget exactly, bcause my prescription has changed a bunch of times, but i beleive they're -5 now.

There isn't an option for "could use glasses, but don't have any"

I am also legally blind without glasses. I tried contacts for a while when I was 13, but I have problems with dry eyes, so I gave them up. Luckily, like Callista I also have "feather light" glasses (that's what they call the special, thinner lenses at my optician's), so that they aren't so heavy.

OMG! It's Harry Potter!

Yes, I wear glasses and I need them. They are just reading glasses but without them my eyes sting.
I love them. I'd never wear contacts.

Yes, I wear glasses. I have 20/1400 vision without glasses, so yes, I'd say that they're necessary. I've needed glasses since age 5; got them at age 6. I needed glasses because I read so much as a kid and watched TV a lot (special interest shows of mine). I think that the reason stereotypical geeks/Aspies have glasses is because of this very reason. We read a lot. When you read, you strain your eyes. You develop myopia. Plain and simple.

I am near-sighted, so I have worn glasses since I was in high school. And they are necessary. As a kid I wanted to wear glasses-I always thought they were neat. I got my first pair when I was a junior (I think) in high school back in the early 1980s. That first pair sits on my dresser---though they aren't used anymore.

I voted yes, but not necessary. I like to use them when I need to read or look at things that are kind of far away, but I'm not blind without them.
