I can understand that most of those who have difficulties taking a shower, is because of the water streaming down the body.
I don't myself having any troubles with that, I actually like taking a shower and I have no problems with soap either.
However I am a little picky (okay, alot) about the cloth I'm using for showering (I CAN'T use a bath sponge).

But most of all, what I dislike the most is that weird feeling I get AFTER taking the shower.
It's like I don't feel things I'm touching the same way, and it drives me insane. It's especially a problem if I'm going to clean my face afterwards.

Any others who have this?
What are your issues with showering?

I LOVE taking showers! When I was a kid I would spend over an hour in the shower much to my mothers chagrin. I love the sensation of water pouring over me, and I love playing with the hot and cold taps and adjusting the temperature producing different sensations. I also just end up daydreaming and retreat into my own little world (even more so than usual =>) in the shower. It's a good place to do that. I also went through a period where I was REALLY obsessive about rinsing the soap off my body, so ALL of it was gone. The idea of having soap on me freaked me out for some reason....So, ya my water bill is going to be really high!! =>

it took me a long time to get used to showers, as i could not stand the feeling of water hitting me like that. i finally learned to not have the faucets turned on to such a high level, and to stick my head under the water first so the water hit my hair. now i enjoy showers - makes a lot more sense than sitting around in a tub with one's own dirt floating around in the water!

getting out of the shower, though, i need really big fluffy towels and i need to get very dry and into my street clothes quickly, or my skin feels gross. i also have to use a lot of moisturizing lotion before i do get dressed, or i'll be itchy from dry skin and that's as big a misery as stinking.

i grew up in a desert where we had heavily mineralized water, so it was necessary to lotion because of that, as well. plus, because we were in a desert i had to learn to get soggy, then soap up with the water turned off, then to turn the water back on again to rinse. i no longer live in the desert, and haven't for years, but i just can't take a long shower - i keep thinking about how much water i'm wasting!

I still feel dirty after, because the water doesn't go through my hair and wet it properly, or rinse away all the soap.

That means my skin feels overwashed and tingly on my back and face, but I'm still not properly clean and my skin and scalp itches from soap. You'd think you'd be uncomfortable from only one of dirt/soap/overwashing only - but I have to put up with all of them! :x I much prefer baths. But my new flat only has a shower. FAIL

I love showers! I could stay in one forever (especially w/ the water really hot). But I cannot use any form of a bath sponge as well & only use a cloth if I'm sure know one else has used it (sharing bath cloths to me= major ewwwy!) So I usually wash myself by hand. But I don't like the feeling of washing myself & it takes forever to rinse my hair (its just below shoulder length, too thick for me, water logs easily & I have to brush it out for a half hour to get it clean/unknotted ). Ultra high water bill maker here!

Ditto. Close the drain and stand in the shower until the tub begins to fill. Then lie in the tub ears submerged so all I can hear is the running water. Meditate like that for the better part of an hour every morning, then open the drain, get up and wash. It's calming and purifying. Hate being rushed anytime, but especially first thing. Oh, yes, lights out, door closed. Just the splashing water and the dark.:flower:Om mane padme hummmmm...

Regular shower's reserved for post-evening workout. :bounce:

I love taking showers and I love being in the water, even though I can't swim. And I do like being in a pool.

Same here too. It's my imaginary play time. And I like all the soaps and shampoos and bath salts. They smell so nice. :nemo:

I feel very clean after a shower. The only thing I dislike about showers is when the hot water goes out before I am done.

Excatly!
Me too... Also I have to dry my self alot too and I still wonder what that thing is I have after the bath...

It's not that I feel I'm too dry or anything, I sorta just can't feel. I get the same thing if I'm rubbing my eyes too long. Then suddenly everything feels weird (touch, not feel as emotion).

My biggest difficulty with showers still is and will always remain my hair. It's long and thick and time consuming to watch. Even more time consuming to dry. Not to mention all the hair shedding I do that I haveta clean up afterwards.

I take long showers because I'm a little slow with washing. That only seems to be the only problem. Oh and shampoo and conditioner usually get in my eyes, so I keep a towel close by. I have to test the softness of a towel before I use it because if it's too rough I get end up with red marks on my body.

My showers are considerably longer than the average person's. I'm slow at them. I also love taking showers, while I'm in it anyway. I took showers on my own later than most.

I hatehate taking off my clothes.

After showers, my hair dries differently and I feel different. I HATE it so much, and can't really do anything I feel bad.

My biggest sensory issue is being wet, especially getting my face wet, so I loathe getting a shower. I figured out about four years ago that my hatred was because showers get your face wet, so I started getting baths instead. Now, I wash my hair under the faucet, so I never have the water touch my face. Baths are less onerous for me, but I still hate having to get wet. Afterwards, when I've gotten out of the bath, I'm miserable. I always have to lie down for about twenty minutes as my hair dries a bit, because having to get wet just takes everything out of me. This is why I only get a bath every other day. Every day would be physically too much for me.

Doesn't bother me unless the shower/bathroom is dirty or something. I can get lost in my thoughts pretty easily and end up in there way too long.

I hate taking showers or baths, and tend to stink because of it.  Even when I was little, my mom says that I would scream every time she put me in the bathtub or tried to get me to shower. Even now I rarely shower/bathe, I just can't handle it. I am now too fat to fit in the bathtub, so I have to shower, which is worse than a bath. I have rarely swam, my parents were too poor to have a pool and they didn't know anybody who did. I can swim and not drown if thrown into deep water, but that's about it.

It feels really good in winter time to me to stand with warm/hot water running strong on the back of my neck - can feel it warming up blood flowing through whole body.

Used to do fine with being out in hot humid weather but now can't stand being hot and sweaty, so . . . in summer the number of showers goes up.

Have some muscle and joint troubles where soaking in hot bath feels soooooo good.
