Have your dreams any language? Which? Do you hear the words?

My dreams are silent movies. They are wordless. I meet some people, I talk with them, but without any word. I just KNOW the meaning. Sometimes I see some written words but it happens really rarely.

I wish I could live in the world without words, but only meanings.

My dreams are in Cockney English. I hear the words spoken in the accent. All of my dreams take place in London, as well.

I get a lot of really intricate movie-esque dialogues...a lot of my dreams are a lot more complicated than anything i could come up with in real life. i have often wondered where some of this stuff comes from.

My dreams are mainly in English, complete with speaking. I say mainly because on more than one occasion, i've dreamed in computer code.

I had once or twice dreams with subtitles  But I don't remember if they were in any language.

Most of the time, the language is unspecified - I feel what is being said to me rather than hear it.

But there are exceptions, in which I very clearly hear distinct words or phrases, or have conversations I can quote verbatim on awakening.

The fascinating thing is, I have heard distinct words and had written words and phrases shown to me in dreams that were in languages I do not speak or read and have never studied, which I have later looked up, only to find that the foreign words are perfectly appropriate to the situation occurring in the dream!

Most of my dreams are in English. Some of my more disturbing dreams (including one in which I could barely feel my legs and had to nearly crawl while an assault on a fortress was taking place) are in other languages.

I don't think I really hear any language in my dreams... If there is dialogue, I just know what was said, maybe think of what the person's voice sounded like, but not in words. That pretty well describes the dream in which the redhead girl I like said she didn't really like me that much. Only language I would hear is indistinct background noise. My dreams are primarily visual. I think that Dali really captured the feeling of dreams.

My dreams are usually in English, with various accents. Since I started learning German I've been listening to childrens audio books in German as I'm going to sleep. To my surprise I actually started dreaming in German! It was quite strange because I didn't know very much in real life but I understood everything being said in my dreams. Then I would wake up and realise I wasn't anywhere near that fluent in real life and desperately try to get back to sleep. That was mostly during the first week I started learning, now my dreams are back to English or "thought language", and very vivid images. I sometimes dream in German still, especially if I'm thinking about it before bed.

The language in my dreams is always English. But the voices of people might be different to what they are in real life and if someone I know talks mumbly in real life they will be very clear in my dreams probably for convenience so I know what they're saying.

Usually English, but I occasionally dream in other languages (sometimes languages I don't even understand in real life, though I understand them perfectly in the dreams). Sometimes I'll wake up and have random foreign phrases running through my head (those will be languages I have been studying in real life).

I have had dreams about other languages which I couldn't
understand. I know why. As a child I heard songs in foreign
languages on a shortwave radio and looked at the globe
and imagined that they had such wonderful things there to
sing about with such beautiful voices using words that I
couldn't understand because they must be too wonderful
and lovely for me to understand
. Thus among my special
interests is maps and languages and music. In the dreams
the words always mean very specifically defined words, as
if there were 100 words each for different kinds of love and
joy, and there is no dictionary for them, the emotions are
as well represented by the words as a photograph represents
what we saw when we used the camera, and the words are
not spoken but sung, not like opera in how they sound but
yes like opera in why they are sung... I mean they can't be
pronounced in monotone or ordinary speaking.

My dreams are very nearly always in my native Spanish, in my hometown's accent. A few times in my life I've dreamed in English, and I have had two dreams in which some French was spoken. There was one dream in which I switched between all three languages in an attempt to make myself understood. Usually my dreams have words though sometimes there's I just know what is being said but cannot recall any actual words used.

Your answers are very interesting.
It seems like vision-only dreams are rare... Nobody has also audio off?

Even if I dream about violence or war, I don't hear the voices and explosions. I see them and all messages come to me without words. They are inprinted in my mind to become new thoughtpictures. Because I think in pictures.

Share your technical side of dreams :D
