Couple years back I was walking down some stairs and somehow stepped over a step. My co-worker grabbed me by the ponytail and bicep before I could fall foward. I was gratefull he was as big as me otherwise he would have accidently rode me down the stairs like a snow sled.

another time I stepped off a curb catching my heel on the curb as a car turned the corner with no turn signal. As I fell the people on a deck near by thought I was hit by the car and it took off with a hit and run. The car missed by two feet. It was a right the police and an ambulance arrived. A guy from the deck drove down the street and found the car that drove by me as I fell told him he hit me and had him come to talk to the cops I thought the guy was going to nervous break down. The cops made the guy take him back apologizing. The people on the deck had been drinking and would not take no for answer when I told them I was alright. The cops told me their jobs would be a lot easier if it was not for alcohol and idiots.

Fortunately nothing that caused serious injury, but yes, my Aspergian clumsiness causes me to bumble into and trip over things all the time. I also find that sometimes when I go to do something physical, I overestimate the force needed to accomplish the task and accidentally break stuff.

I have over reached metal parts I was cleaning up a couple times sticking my finger in a spinning chuck leaving bruises and a couple little bits of skin. Good thing I have a high pain threashold. (A chuck is a piece of metal that holds the part in place) My co-workers had to come running over to my work area a couple times. The scariest was when I was putting slots in flat metal stock. My finger slipped foward across the cutting tool. It left 28 little dings in my finger the boss's face turned white and then burst out laughing when he saw me grab another part like nothing happened. Thats where I got the nickname dangerdan and mongo.

When I'm walking my body tends to curve around stuff as to avoid collisions then i almost fall the other way, luckily I've gotten better at not falling down... I know with some things I'm clumsy, especially in the tool category.

I've bumped into people because I've zoned out.

I worry less about clumsiness then I do about distraction. Fortunately getting distracted hasn't caused me any bodily injury but, I did get into a rather serious accident in highschool while being distracted by MC Hammer "You Can't Touch This".

i'm crummy with stairs- decending 'em i often miss the first step and fall on my tuckas and go "brup-brup-brup" owowowow all the way down, or in climbing them i fall on my face repeatedly and end up having to climb them with both arms and legs 'till i reach the top. it is largely because of my big flat feet, because escalators are ok for me as well as stairsteps with at least 12" landings.
oh, and water fountains that are recessed in the wall, with only an 18" headroom, i always manage to bump the back of my head getting back up. damn those things.

I scalded my leg quite badly a few years ago, due to clumsiness. I think it's also from difficulties with depth perception. I had knocked over a mug of boiling water because I didn't see that I'd put it down on a surface that had a higher bit. It all seemed the same level to me. I also once fell off my bike because I didn't see that I was riding into the curb - everything seemed the same depth. My Irlen glasses are supposed to help with this kind of thing - and I haven't had any such accidents since I've started wearing them, so maybe they do help.

I also have a lot of near misses - the stairs in my house don't have a banister, and there have been several times I've nearly gone flying down them. Fortunately I know to be careful and I walk down the stairs slowly with my body leaning against the wall!

I bump into doorways a lot, although this does seem to have reduced since the Irlen lenses.

Last month I took a wrong step in a parking lot (and this after trouble with the nearby stairs which I got through uninjured), and I twisted my ankle...MAN, that hurt. I looked back and could not see a single thing that could've possibly made me trip. MAYBE there was a subtle dip in the pavement, but I don't think a normal person would've lost their footing.

As for the other accidents I've had...good grief, there are MANY.

BTW--what is it called if one turns out not to be on the spectrum, but has a lot of the same sensory problems?

Too many... I've sprained my ankles so many times that they don't sprain anymore. Just the index finger on my left hand has been cut off with a paper cutter (the tip), scraped down from a motorcycle wreck (never again), burned in a fire, broken, and crucified by a nail gun (and it still works!) All should have been avoided if I could just stay "focused", but it seems that I retract too far into my thoughts and forget about my surroundings. I don't have a strong sense for danger either, so that may contribute.

One time, a quite a few years ago, I've decided to walk down to the mall, and buy myself a book. Anyways, I saw that the light was going to turn red, and I had on a pair of old platform shoes. I ran across the street, and I fell down, skinned both knees and twisted my right ankle. I walked to the mall, anyways, and everybody at the mall was laughing at me. I couldn't understand, why.

When I got home, my mum told me, that there was blood down each of my legs.

I never did that, again.

Agghh, between my HORRIBLE motor skills (and I mean *horrible*, I have problems with simple tasks like sweeping floors and tying shoelaces) and my extremely poor vestibular and proprioceptive skills, I'm constantly tripping over my own feet, bumping into things, knocking things over. Just today, I accidentally whacked myself with a refrigerator magnet when I was opening the refrigerator door to put groceries away. Don't even ask me how I managed that one. Sadly occurrences like that are normal for me.
I used to wear chunky one inch heels to give myself some extra height, as I'm quite short (5'1 or 61 inches). The trouble is when I was especially tired and/ or stressed, I sometimes wouldn't catch myself when I stumbled. There's nothing like falling on the sidewalk, and having my fellow pedestrians asking "Are you okay?" even when I'm up and moving again within about two seconds. Falling seems to be taken as a clear sign that *something* must be "wrong." I have since switched to flats. I still stumble frequently, but I only very rarely actually fall anymore.
Even so, I never seem to really injure myself. I've never broken anything, and I never needed stitches, with the exception of one time when I had oral surgery, and they needed to put a couple of stitches in my gums. Mostly, I just embarrass myself.

When I was around 12 it seemed every morning I would get up, go to the bathroom to brush my teeth and as I would bend down to get my toothbrush from under the sink I would "whack my head against the counter top!" I can't even count how many times that happened...hmmm

I tripped a few times in my life, most of the times stairs were the problem.

2 years ago was a bad one, if I weren't so overweight I probably would have broken my hip and leg.

Yes, quite a few. I have a few scars to prove it on both sides of my eyebrows. I've fell down stairs a few times, escaped injury but not bruises. I am clumsy most of the times, but as an adult I'm much better with it yet I still have issues with balance. I would probably fail the line test that police officers use to do the drinking test. I can walk forward with no issues (and trip on the concrete a few times), but not at an exact straight line. I wobble to the side from time to time.

Growing up I attributed the problem with me being deaf. It was not until I noticed that other deaf people don't really have a big issue with that.

I have not had any major accidents, but I keep bumping into things ot ripping over things, which cause minor injuries.
