Do you sleep through the whole night? Do you wake up every 3 hours? Do you need 10 hours?
Do you take naps? How long are they? Do they do any good?

Lately I've realized that I seldom sleep longer than two and a half hours at a stretch. If that.
Since I'm currently not involved in any heavy labour or responsability, I dunno if it's affecting my life.

Something certainly affects my reaction times :P

I sleep 7-8 hours. I wake up at least once, usually to micturate. It's normal to wake up a few times each night. Many people who say they don't do and just don't remember. Last night I dreamt that Martha Stewart was being treated for uncontrolled growth and had already attained a height of over 100 feet. She was being interviewed by Oprah, talking about what it's like to be humongous. It didn't sit well with me. I kept asking myself if that's something that really happens.

Waking up at a set time each day, with no exceptions, helps me to sleep more soundly through the night. I feel more rested that way than if I give myself an extra 15 minutes, or half hour, or an hour because there's nothing important to do. .

I usually get 6 hours of sleep, every night.

I'm very consistent. I wake up frequently throughout the night (I'd estimate between five and eight times per night on average). If I can sleep 'til I'm done sleeping (that is, no need to set an alarm to wake up for anything), I sleep for about 9 hours. If I do need to wake up for some reason (work), I sleep for about 7. Really need to get to bed earlier. :?

I sleep about 8 hours, and I wake up at least 5 times a night.

6 to 6 1/2 hours is a normal night's sleep. I used to wake up once, but that has increased as I've aged to 3 or 4 times. I sometimes manage a refreshing 1/2 hour nap in late afternoon.

I wake up in the middle of the night, or at least recollect it, no more than a couple times a year. Although this sacrifices experiencing dreams, and is somewhat dangerous as I have slept through a number of fire alarms.

I get about 4-5 hours of sleep now a days. I can't really nap because I have real trouble getting to sleep. I usually just spend 2 hours trying to get to sleep and give up.

2.5 hours seems like a funny number, sleep is usually in multiples of about 90min, because that is the time it takes to cycle through the different stages of sleep. If you wake up right at the end of a cycle you feel far more rested for the amount of time spent sleeping.

A couple companies have actually come out with alarm clocks designed to detect where you are in the sleep cycle and wake you up at the right time. Apparently they work pretty well. I have looked into getting one so that I can do the opposite, sacrifice sleep so that I can force experiencing dreams, but none of the designs let you reprogram them in this way.

I sleep non stop but only 7 hours worth, as my bio clock won't let anymore. An hour nap in the evening helps a lot , but usually there isn't time for this. I do need 8.

I took something unconventional to normalize my previous unconventional sleep patterns, similar to yours-Lecithin or phosphatidylcholine in large quantities. Did this for years and it brought back a normal circadian rhythm and mended memory deficits. I still take a maintenance dose.

Anyone with similar problems would miss out if they overlooked this.^ Studies reveal said substance helps with symptoms of autism .

I found this out serendipitously, though.

8

I need full 8 hours. I feel tired if I sleep for 7 hours, let alone less.

Last night? 6 hours. Uuuuugh. Too much to do last night, and had an early start this morning. Bad combo. I don't let it happen often...

I sleep throughout the whole night about 60% of the time. I then take naps during the day about 3/4 of the time. I have been 3-hour-long naps every day since last Tuesday, for example.

I sleep between 7.5-9 hours. I don't usually get up in the middle of the night. Just sometimes. Though I think i drink lots of water in my sleep because I'll wake up sometimes and the water glass on the nightstand is almost empty, but I have no memory of drinking that much.

@Science_Guy - you reminded me of when we got our dog. When she was a puppy we got up in the middle of the night to take her out. These days she sleeps for about 14 hours before even stirring!

I take him out every hour during the day and take away his water 2 hours before he goes to bed. He can hold it for about seven hours. I think he can be noisy sometimes because he's bored or just because he can.

I haven't been getting nearly enough sleep in the past few months. I should be getting 8 hours of sleep (since that usually leaves me feeling rested and healthy), but lately, I've only been getting 4-6 hours of sleep, and I always seem to wake up with my breath caught in my throat. I'm pretty sure this is either due to my acid reflux (which can cause sleep apnea) or the fact that I'm tapering off of Zoloft (and don't worry, my psychiatrist knows about this and is monitoring my progress). Either way, though, it royally sucks.

I haven't slept well since I was a baby. I will sleep a few hours at most at a time. It usually catches up with me in the late afternoon when I am at work and again right after eating dinner. My eyes get heavy and I'll fall asleep for 20 minutes or so then be fully refreshed. When I have worked different jobs over the years, I'll go days without sleeping then sleep 10-12 hours straight on the weekend to catch up.
