you know how some people can't stand the squeal of fingernails being run down a chalkboard?

Do you have anything specific that really unnerves you?

Mine is talking into the rim of a cup or a can. Like someone's talking, raise their drink to their lips but still talking. Don't know why.

I have so many of these. Some of them are actually painful, some are just really uncomfortable.

I hate whispering.

I hate "Shhh!"

I hate voices that sound "wet."

I hate chewing sounds.

I hate coughing.

This list is not complete.

I can't stand to rub my hand or feet across anything with texture: carpet, towels, clothing, etc. I also can't stand to hear anyone else do it. Styrofoam or the chalkboard thing never bothered me much.

Cannot stand seeing people eating yogurt. Lifting the spoon to their mouth, and then they stick their tongue out a bit, and it's still white with yogurt *shudder*
really gross coughing, when you just KNOW they have swallowed something :eew:
Eggshells. This one is weird, i can take an egg in my hand, no issues there, but fishing a little piece of eggshell that has fallen in the pan by accident gives me the "chalkboard" feeling. It's sensory, maybe it comes from the feeling of my fingernails touching the eggshell, it sends shivers down my spine....

People eating crunchy foods, especially pretzels and ice. For some reason, it is even worse when they have their mouths closed.

I don't know that it's as bad as fingers on a chalkboard, but mine would have to be babies crying and really light touch when I'm not expecting it/don't want someone touching me.

Worst than fingernails, rubbing your front teeth down a blackboard, even the thought of it makes me shudder.

Motorcycle engines
Screaming babies
People chewing with their mouths open
Burping
Noses blowing

That only scratches the surface.

It reminds me that at some point in my life I imagined that (why, I don't know) it also made me shudder to think about it. Nambo, have you actually experienced it or saw someone do that, or did you just imagine it like I did.

The thought of teeth on sandpaper always had made me sick.
