Because i know i am. most aspies say that they were really shy in school, and that's why the had few friends, if any at all.

but i've been eccentric all my life, but i just choke when it comes to intimate relationships with people. but i've always been extremely out there.

i was just wondering...

Well, I guess I'm a more like a very careful, hesitant extrovert than a shy person. I don't say much, exept to people who I'm pretty sure will "get it," but I have an absurdist sense of humour and an unusual, dandyish dress sense.
I've been called eccentric a few times, but I'm not sure how I feel about that- I always taken the word to mean something like "benignly mad". :?

Yeah, and more than a little.

JennieRichee, this is just my personal opinion, but I think your avatar is very dull. It looks like a Christmas ornament robot with a 1950s-style lady's face on it. I don't know what the robot is supposed to represent; maybe you think you're more like a robot than an actual human being because of your Asperger's. It's just lame.

I am eccentric and fiercely proud of this! I have learned to accept being different and to live with it and to enjoy living life as an eccentric. As far as I'm concerned, life would be completely boring if I was "normal."

Ah... well thanks for your opinion neanthumain. I picked out that avatar 'cause I liked its kitschness, but I see how others could find it annoying- It doen't really represent me, and I have been thinking of changeing it. :P

i thought it was a russian doll...

anyway - i've always been called eccentric, and it's a persona i've cultivated. most people say i'm as mad as a mad thing, in an affectionate way. i've been called things ranging from "a breath of fresh air", to "that weirdo", but it seems to work for me, and i rather enjoy the epithets. i'd hate to be thought of as "normal", but there are some "normal" things i'd like to be able to do (relationships being the most obvious).

examples? well, i dress very differently (outrageously, it's been decribed as) apparently, most people saying they wish they had the guts to dress as i do, some thinking i look ridiculous, i'm sure. and i refuse to dress "appropriately" for women my age. my lifestyle is "bizarre", and very anachronistic (people often tell me i was born in the wrong century). and i am very paradoxical - i can be as old as a mountain one minute, and as young as a bird the next. well, according to me, that leaves me 58 more minutes per hour for me to be other things - hurrah!

i expect i get away with my eccentricities as people see me as wise, in most things - i'm always being asked about things, and for advice "cos you'll know this". now THAT'S a major compliment in my book!

Eccentric? me? never..... 8) I have been defiantly eccentric for as long as I can remember. Who wants to be normal/boring anyway? As you get older nayashi, more people find difference interesting rather than weird, well the people worth knowing anyway... :P

oh and your avatar is pretty kitsch jennie - no need to apologise for it... 8)

JennieRichee, I respectfully disagree with NeantHumain. Your avatar is original, and the depicted object is not of obvious kind, and is composed of many parts, which makes it interesting to look at and analyze. By no means is your avatar boring or annoying, in my opinion.

Very and unable to do anything about it. Powerless. I am looking for the person that can understand my jokes besides me.

the question really is do they make you laugh?

thats the only trouble with having an offbeat/private sense of humour, most people won't get it - but it is great when someone does.... hope you find someone who gets you thinker. I think this is why the misconception that autistics have no sense of humour is so prevalent... :P

I am fairly eccentric. But I don't think I go out of my way to be differient, it mostly just comes from being immune to what is popular at the time. Walking down the street people wouldn't pick me out and say I look odd... well sometimes they might I have a tendency to wear hawaiian shirts outside of summer.

i totally relate...right now i'm in school and wearing my costume from Les Mis from two years ago...and a boa. i am cool.

you sound like a really fun person, by the way :P

people always tell me that they find me interesting and they're always complementing me on my clothes, and saying that they wish they could dress like me.

oooh, thank you, nayashi!

(vivi blushes at the compliment).

i have also been accused of dressing like a drag queen. well, i really cannot see the problem with sparkly clothes and very tall fetish boots myself, even at my advanced age... ;)

JennieRichee, there is nothing wrong with your avatar. I like it.

Anyway, I'm definitley eccentric. Or as I would define: Quirky.

The shyness in school was more due to the fact with not knowing how to act around people, but aside from that, I'm so quirky and wouldn't want it any other way.

:D

My dress sense is not what I would consider ugly or unfashionable, but for some reason I just hate mass produced clothes.

They'd probably look nice on, but i'd rather have something different so I wouldn't look like some Mr blend in..

I love glitter, sparkles and diamanties.

I'm very eccentric. I'm obsessed with both Britian and the 60s to the point that I'm known around town as Austin Powers Girl. I look almost exactley like him, too except my teeth are cleaner. :P
