I read in one of my abnormal psych textbooks that about 90% of children with HFA had significantly large heads (in terms of circumference)) relative to their heights compared to others of their age/sex. I have an abnormally small head...I think. I have an oblong face....and most hats look ridiculously big on me.........although I have been told that I have a large forehead. I can't find a tape measure at the moment........Anyways...I like polls so I thought I'd do a poll.

Since this research found that children with HFA had large heads I am asking specifically people who have been diagnosed without an ASD (autism spectrum disorder...of any kind) without intellectual disability. Please only respond to the poll if you're diagnosed with an ASD.

You can just say whether you think you have a small/medium/large head (e.g. because you wear a small/medium/large hat) for the purpose of the poll or if you can measure your head..........you will have to find the average for your height/sex if you're going to do that though...I tried to find a good website with a chart for adult head circumference at different heights but could not. If anyone finds one please post a link.

I wear a size 7 1/2 or 7 3/4 cap.

I don't think it has anything to do with AS, though, it's very common in the males of my family.

Yeah, most of the head size charts only go up to age 3.

I think I have an average sized head. I have really thick hair which affects my hat size (I don't really like hats though).

I have a large head and am diagnosed with an ASD. In fact, the doctor who initially suspected me of having AS measured my head and told me it was very large. I find it difficult to find hats that fit and I can't tie bandanas around my head.

That's interesting that they actually measured your head for that purpose................

My head is larger than average. It's not enormous, but definitely a bit bigger than most people's.

How do I know if my head is bigger or smaller than average? Is there a standard chart related to your height somewhere? I don't ever wear hats.

I'm not sure, but when I tried on my mum's cyclist helmet (she's the same height), it was too small for me. I also have a very wide, round face.
