Going to see a movie has always been a big issue for me. I would much rather rent from a RedBox or Netflix. However, being married to an NT requires me to go and see the occasional new release. It is very stressful if I can't sit at the very back in the corner. Otherwise it means a stranger will sit behind me, or even worse, beside me for about 2 hours of agony. Hearing them eating popcorn or slurping a soda makes me cringe. The worst part is initially entering the theater itself, with everyone staring at you as you clumsily find a seat. I hate it. Bring back drive-ins!

Why would she make you do it?
There are plenty of other things to do together.

I love them, but I often try going to matinees, not just because they're cheaper but also because there are fewer people. When there's a bunch of stupid ass ghetto wannabes who won't shut up I feel close to being homicidal.

Well, I mentioned this on another thread, but I believe in give and take. She does a lot of things that I like to do, like going to a museum for example. The door sometimes swings the other way and I sacrifice myself for the greater good. Most of the time, I just let her go off with her gfs to do the things I absolutely refuse to do. I just hate it and she had mentioned going to see Hall Pass sometime soon.

I am perfectly happy sitting by myself watching American Psycho ;)

I love going to the cinema, but I don't like the thought of getting teenagers behind me or next to me, who I don't know. Once a group of teenagers were in the cinema (they weren't near me though) throughout the whole film they kept giggling at nothing, and if somebody looked round at them to tell them to be quiet, they got popcorn thrown at them. This isn't fair to other people who have paid to see a film. If these horrible selfish teenagers want to sit there giggling, why don't they do that somewhere else? God I hate teenagers, they spoil everything! If there ain't a toddler screaming, there are teenagers giggling instead. But teenagers should be old enough to know that cinemas aren't for arsing about in.

I've recently started to have problems with this as I've grown up a bit. I used to always love them, but lately I've found the other people so distracting that it's impossible to pay full attention to the movie, unless the audience is especially good. Basically, if the theater is filled with talkative, whispering jerks, then there's no way to enjoy what's going on.

Torture, hate. The whole sensory experience freaks me out. As much as I like the big screen, that is cool, it still makes me feel a little dizzy. The sound extra bothers my ears...let alone the seating...the people, food, ew dirty, smells. Even nice ones bug me. It makes me feel trapped, stuck there waiting for it to start, stuck through the dragging parts and then stuck until the end. I can't stand to feel trapped. I can't believe how many people go to movies and say, it was ok. I'd leave if I was bored and was there alone. I can't handle any of the sensory stuff if I am bored. I never get to leave until it is over, feels like being on an airplane. I'm angry when we've walked out and said it was boring....omg why didn't you express that I'd have bolted outta there. I love love love movies. I never watch them twice and if I extra love them I hit pause and watch like 30 minutes at a time. I love beautiful weird movies, Everything is Illuminated, Fur, The Jacket, Slingblade, Once..The Machinist..The United States of Leland, Lars and the Real Girl

VERY loud and upsetting, but I have enjoyed watching certain movies. Generally, I sit in the back row and if necessary cover my ears. (Well, generally, I don't go. I did go to one last summer and I think the one before that was Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End whenever it came out-- I don't really remember-- and before that it was Mean Girls.)

I like movie theaters, for the most part, with one major exception. I like the cool, and the dark, and the comfortable seats. I go at odd hours, so I don't have to deal with large crowds. I go early, so that I can find a seat without having to maneuver around people. I avoid the first week or two, so that the crowds are smaller.

All this would be wonderful, except that I hate sitting in the theater by myself, in the middle of all the other groups. It reminds me how alone I am. It makes me feel lonely. Usually, I'm alright with being alone, but in the midst of all of the other groups, It is a lot harder.

I don't go to many movies in the theater.

I like to go to the movies during matinees, when it's just me and some random old people. Opening weekend of a highly anticipated action blockbuster, I never go, because it's just gonna be full of annoying people.

Oh, and I hate the 3-D trend. The glasses don't fit well over my glasses (that I HAVE TO WEAR SO I CAN SEE), so I end up miserable and headachey for the entire movie. Does it enhance your experience? Do things fly out at you? I honestly don't understand it. Because of my astigmatism, I think I don't have depth perception as other people experience it, so the whole 3-D movie phenomenon is wasted on me.

Movie theatres are loud. They sometimes smell bad. The seats are sometimes sticky. I avoid them but sometimes go when friends or family want to see something.

I'll wear earplugs or cover my ears when I go, except I HATE sitting in the front which is what my family does whenever we got to the movie theater. Sitting in the front means I have to look up and get a headache or look down and listen to the dialog. I do go to movies a lot, so I've gotten used to the other sounds and people except for the plastic crinkling, but sitting in the front is enough to make up for all the disturbances. I have to sit in line with camera too, or I'll feel disoriented watching it. Whenever there's a whole row in the back empty I make a beeline for it unless I don't have a choice in where I sit.

I am not fond of going to a movie anymore because it has gotten expensive, so has matinees. I would rather wait till it comes to DVD.

I love going to the theatre, but I like to go when it's not crowded - odd hours either really early in the afternoon or really really late at night. I love to go alone as well, though it tends to defeat the standard purpose of going to the movie theatre ^.^
