I don't know if it's typical of aspergers, but I also often listen to the same song, or same small group of songs over and over.

I super duper do that. I can listen to the same song or narrow set of songs for days, weeks, even months. Especially when I'm working.

i do it because

1. i am unemployed and living at home with my parents
2. life can get boring so i create my own innder world and dive into it throught my hobbies on the internet
3. things can get tough so it makes me feel comftable and better diving into my interests
4. my routines and rituals can change but at the moment i have been listening to the same music and videos on my internet for the last few months

really its a form of hurt control and pain regulation

PS - not sure if i have aspergers or classic autisim? I did have a slight language delay as a child.............

I never listen to the same album more than once within the space of about six months, and I rarely (but sometimes) listen to a song more than once in about the same time either. Everyone is different.

I used to listen to the same music over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

I started doing that around the same time I stopped reading the same books over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

I always listen to the same songs over and over again, however I think that it mainly has something to do with the music, if it is a song or group of songs that you like you will keep listening too them over and over again till something else catches your interest. Might not be Asperger's though because I know a lot of NT's that do the same thing.

The fact that NTs do it does not mean it has nothing to do with being autistic. Two people can do the same thing for different reasons.

I'm pretty sure that's normal.

Everyone gets addicted to songs and albums they like, and the addiction goes on until they find something better to listen to. That's why things like iPods were invented. :P

I don't think this is exclusive to AS. My daughter is an HFA and she listens to the same set of favourite nursery rhyme music everyday. A bit like comfort music.

Well, since AS is basically HFA but excluding speech delays and a few other things, this is to be expected, I think. :D

I do that. I don't know if it's an AS thing, but I've had plenty of people tell me its weird.

I definitely think it is related to AS, depending on the extent that you do it. I have been listening to only 3 songs for over a year, one of these songs still feels "new" to me and I get a slightly uneasy feeling from it. Likewise I have one episode of a tv show on my ipod that I watch over and over. Hundreds of times. Yesterday I watched it 6 times. I don't believe that many NTs would do this, atleast, not for the same reasons. I don't do it because I "love" it, I do it because it brings me comfort, I know what to expect, and lets me escape the world.
