I just want to say what a great place the Wrong Planet is.

I have been quite ill over the past 3 months with a major meltdown and this web site has been a real lifeline for me.

You guys have been friendly, helpful and accepting of me in a way I have found nowhere else.

After a lot of soul searching, I have decided not to be formally diagnosed, at least for the time being, however I still feel welcome here as a ‘not sure’.

This may be the wrong planet but it certainly has the right people as members :)

It is likely the only place I can be myself online. Here's hoping it continues to be the great place that it is.

I just love the idea behind the name of wrong planet... I am the right person but simply on the wrong planet. Here's hoping that the confidence and understanding you have experienced here will continue for a long time. It has certainly been a lifeline for me too and a source of so much more self understanding than I had before I first realized I had AS not quite 11 months ago.

I love coming here. I haven't had as many depressive episodes since I've joined in 2004. :)

This is my all-time favorite website. I feel like I can be myself here without fear of ridicule. :)

Their are many sweet people here.

The dramas makes things interesting too, and I learn a lot about autism.

I have no idea if the two are in any way related, however there is this band that used to follow me from venue to venue (at least around new england) called the string cheese incident that do a song called born on the wrong planet (i strongly recommend you give it a listen, it just fits so well)

might be you were born on the wrong planet

One thing that bothers me in posting here is 'damage.' I don't know if I cause any pain. There are threads I see that mention alienated feelings due to differences.

I agree that this has been a place that feels like a respite from the rest of the world. I can't say that I feel I fit in, exactly, but I appreciate the people here.

Jacs, I'm happy for you. I hope you feel better soon.

Being a member of WP is nice because if you have an issue that you feel you might need advice on how to handle, other members will be honest and direct in helping you.

I too visit regularly. It's a sort of home now, every time I come here, I'm remembered I'm not alone.

I agree with what others have said in this thread. Before and after my diagnosis was "official", I've found this site a great resource. I'm glad it exists.

I, too, have found Wrong Planet to be "just what the doctor ordered"; that is, a very helpful place to visit that isn't judgemental.
I appreciate everyone who has answered my forum posts, and has tried to show me friendship! ( Hope I have returned your friendship correctly!) :D
This is good for me because I often don't do well socially.
Until I married a woman with an Autistic son, I never realized just how different I was perceived in public. It was partially because of my wife that I actually got an Asperger's/Autistic diagnosis, myself.
And finally ( and sadly enough), my Mother refuses to believe my diagnosis, even though it's official! I am also fortunate that my wife FIRMLY believes my diagnosis! ( we are getting along better, now)
Well, there's my 2 cents' worth! :)
