I score either INTJ or ISTI in the MBTI tests and actually if I read the profiles I seem to be a mix of both. More interestingly, the reasons why I appear to be between the two types are catually often related to AS, so I'd like to know whether is the same for someone else.
I'll copy and paste what I've written in the INTJ forum so I can give you an brief analysys of the points.
- I am "concrete" in the use of language since I tend to be literal minded - I do understand figures of speech, but it isn't the most spontaneous thing; I'd rather be very accurate in the choice of words (especially in my native language);
- at the same time, I am rather theoretical in many other ways: I love philosophy, I am extremely intellectually curious about new ideas, I like speculating about almost anything, coming out with original solutions, questioning what is usually considered obvious (yes, I am such a PITA ) etc.
- I am detail oriented, i.e. I notice details that others seem to miss (thanks AS) and I like knowing facts. I am not *only* about facts, though (cf. the previous point). There are times when I just enjoy collecting data, others in which I am actively working out the connection between them (the latter being the most satisfying, the former being mostly due to my being mentally compulsive/information addict).
- The part in which I don't resemble to ISTJ at all is the supposed love for traditions and common sense. I am strongly an original thinker. If I share common ideas is just by chance, I work them out by myself and could not care in the slightes of "how it has always been" or "what everybody thinks "; I can't take authority seriously at all.
- At the same time I have a certain crave for routine and stability (again, thanks Asperger's ) and unstructured situations make me uncomfortable; but as I have been arguing other times there is a major difference between "having my own habits [that might be highly weird to anyone else]" and "doing things as *others* use to be".
- Related to the previous point: there are some questions that confuse me because I could say one thing or the opposite according to the context you apply it. "Do you prefer to follow a familiar or a new approach?" - if we talk about my morning rituals, I am doing every day the same; if we talk about ideas or problem solving, I'll definitely go for the new.
