I am in my 30's but people tell me all the time I look no older than 25. They ponder why I look so young. I feel like telling them mabye its because I DONT DRINK ALCHOHOL BY THE BARREL EVERY FREAKIN FRIDAY NIGHT!

Seriously, what is it with NT's and beer? They just LOVE getting drunk, throwing up all over the place...I don't get it, do you?

How is drinking until you puke fun, exactly? Can someone please take me through the "mindset" of an NT on this one and explain? Why do NT's LOVE bars and drinking so much???

Its cultural, certain cultures drink little or none at all.

I'm HFA and I enjoy moderate drinking of healthy ales, heck I'm going to have one right now

Most europeans dont all drink like poms, yanks, canuks, ozzies and kiwis. Oh, and the scots and dont forget the irish. Germans are very disciplined drinkers in general

Mmmmm

Autistic people drink till they puke too. No one is immune from the wonderous effect of alcohol. Though all I get from it is a burning in my stomach, as such I do not partake.

Alcohol is the promise fulfilled about not feeling pain, not worrying about anything, getting lucky, a variety of things. Alcohol has been part of the world since the Egyptians and their bread. Bread making (what I do) is actually somewhat like making alcohol, but sort of not.

Either way, alcohol is what people want in life: The bliss of distraction.

All humans do in life is to distract themselves from the inevitable, and drugs and alcohol make that inevitable so much less worrisome. Of course people are going to drink. People are always going to drink, or do drugs, or whatever it takes to not realize the truth. Or perhaps some day we will have evolved past the need for such distractions because their will be no more inevitable. But I doubt it.

Life is what you make of it and alcohol makes it funnier. I've basically said the same thing 3 times over in different words and all of a sudden that seems so very sad.

Oh, and bars and alcohol are where and how people socialize, which NT's love. So yeah.

So are you saying that we're so much better than NTs because NTs drink like pigs and we don't do this? I'm not sure your assumptions are valid.

I don't think having AS or not really has any bearing on liking beer, or hard alcohol for that matter. There are plenty of people on both sides that do party, and that don't.

I drink alcohol, sometimes a lot (having a very high tolerance helps) but I don't like getting drunk. But, I don't have a problem with people who do, as long as they aren't driving or puking on my shoes I don't care how drunk they get.

A lot of the drinking that goes on at bars is to act as a social "lubricant" because -NEWSFLASH- "NT's" get nervous and anxious as well and a beer or two can relax you a little.

I used to drink, and I had a talent for drinking not quite enoughto vomit. So I only twice had it happen in my entire adult life, and I did not drink prior to being at legal drinking age.

I agree that drinking is not specifically an NT thing.

Yeah, I dunno whether I'd call it an NT thing, but it certainly isn't a good thing if you have to get stinking drunk to have a good time. The puking can't be great for you either. Can't really argue with those things.

Because we're ridiculous craven beasts. I hate the stupid avoidable damage that resuts from people getting 's**t faced'. It's not funny, it's pathetic.

Why do all AS people dress badly and look like Dustin Hoffman?

Answer is Not all NT not even Half, not even 25% drink to excess.
Last year and the Year before that, I went to a largesh Pub at least once a week with 8- 10 mates, all NT, and in in those two years I Never saw any one drunk. Not my mates and no one in the pub.

Not all NTs do this. My parents don't do this either and mom is NT. Well my dad has ADHD and aspie traits. They drink but not often and my dad doesn't go to bars often. But they don't get drunk. I think they've had in the past when they were young.

Also one of my aspie friends used to drink a lot and get drunk and then he cut back. He still likes to get buzzed and he loves going to bars and drinks. He says it helps him cope in social situations and he functions better in them. I sometimes call him Homer.

lol hi.. there are many reasons why NT's drink the way they do, it could be personal, psychological, social and yeah cultural, just like everybody else. and how they end up or able to handle their alcohol also varies.. i know other NT's that drink almost every night that they no longer get drunk.. i was one of them.. again, was.. and i have all those for reasons as to why i was like that.. but there are those consistent with their drinking habit, away from the probability that they are severely alcoholic and those cases i dont get too.. that they drink too much for too long that its self-destruction.. maybe some people's lives and minds are just that bad that they no longer like to be sober.. or that the alcohol, company, occassion or something else is too good to not drink about.. :)

Firstly I'll agree with most of the other posters: Not ALL NTs drink (I know several who don't) and some people with AS also drink, sometimes to excess as well.

I, however do not understand it. I cannot understand how one could knowingly damage your own body without wishing to be suicidal (although I suppose that's more true of illegal drugs as alcohol requires long term abuse for this). I can't understand how it is 'fun' to get so wasted on alcohol that you end up waking up in a prison cell. I can't understand why people think they are having a good time on the alcohol when they can't even remember what they did the night before.

I also can't stand people drink driving because it KILLS. Appaerntly Britain is one of the worst countries for binge drinking. If you go to many other parts of Europe, they drink moderately from a younger age, and it's better quality alcohol as well.

I have an Aspie friend, and it's well known he's obsessed with going to the pub.
