Do you notice things NTs don't?

I was wanting to wear my black shirt with a fish on it. I looked through my clothes and couldn't find it. Katelyn (11yr. old sister) was like OMG! You can know you're missing a shirt!! !! I searched moms closet nope not there. I then looked in the bottom of my closet (sometimes clothes fall off the hanger) and there it was. It's kind of dirty but I don't care. I love having attention to detail and KNOW when I'm missing a shirt or *insert item* YA!! !! LOVE THIS ASPIE TRAIT!

Ha! Yes, my wife will say, "have you seen my keys?" and I respond with "Yes, I saw them last on the table behind the couch, between the pad of paper near the phone and the remotes.

"Where is my belt?" "It's hanging in the closet, closest to you when you open it, in front of the the brown one you never wear."

I like knowing where things are.

I notice patterns of behavioral changes that others are too involved in to notice. Helps me out but all of the mental effort takes a toll. It's like it's more natural for me to understand patterns than people.

I notice all the time-I can tell if someone has moved something in my workshop-drives me crazy.

It's sort of 50:50 with me, some things I notice that others don't, other times it's vice versa.

I notice quite a lot of things that others don't. Sounds in particular. I can hear my neighbour's central heating at night, or her vacuum, or even shower.

Today I was sitting with a group of people, near a generator being used to power a kettle. I could hear when the kettle went on and off by the change in the generator's sound. When I mentioned this, they all looked at me and said I can't believe you can hear a difference.

I'm not so good on seeing things about people, mainly because I don't look at them much.

I always know where MY things lay in MY room, I can also say (in case of almost all the items bought after I was born, minus some books and plush toys) when, where and in what circumstances they were bought or given to me. I also usually know where something from mom's bedroom is but not always, for she changes their position on the shelves from time to time unlike I do with my things in my room but if she left them as they had been, I wouldn't have any problem with telling her where her things are.

It's mixed for me. The generator/kettle thing Henbane mentioned is something I would notice. I don't remember detailed stuff like the keys and belts that haruka does.

A few weeks ago, I noticed something quite minor that 'just felt wrong'. We have two Samsung LCD televisions on the second floor of our house (one is 32" and the other is 40"). The smaller one had to be sent out for repair because the air conditioner above it was dripping water on it. Anyway, a few days after we got it back, I was sitting at the lounge in front of the large television, and went to change the channel to the HDMI input. I could sense something was wrong from the moment I sat down: for life of me I was sure there should be a big, square 'HDMI' button at the top of the remote: but it wasn't there. I sat there stupefied for a few minutes, wondering where the button had gone. I took the remote to my dad and asked if he had changed the remote (he hadn't, apparently). I asked my mum the same question (she hadn't either). I told them both that this was definitely the wrong remote; it controlled the television fine, but it was definitely not the right one. Anyway, I rummaged around the house and finally found another remote hidden in a drawer: and to my surprise, it had a HDMI button at the top. I showed the evidence to my parents, but they dismissed me and said I was delusional. Anyway, I proved conclusively in the end that the remote belonged to the TV by matching up model numbers, and put the remotes to their rightful televisions, satisfied that everything was back in order again.

I when I worked at a machine shop they would have me give a part that we were inspecting a second go over. I always found something wrong with the part mostly miner but sometimes extremely bad. It was one of the reasons they called me "RainDan".

I can always tell when my stuff is missing. One time I was missing my wire drum brushes and I had to wait until Monday to get them out of my cupboard in the music room at my clubhouse.

Yes, fairly often. But they often pick up on things I miss, so I guess that'd make us even.

I don't notice things NTs don't really. I notice the things NTs do.

I usually notice quiet sounds or the differences between sounds. This means I could tell the difference between my mother's & father's footsteps from when I was quite small. I also notice when we've got post through the letterbox & I can often hear people breathing (which can be irritating). The downside of this is that I get startled easily by normal volume sounds & people's normal speaking voices are often too loud for me. The sound of people chewing really drives me crazy too, especially when they go between having their mouth open & shut as they chew.

Occasionally, but more often than not, I'm the one that doesn't notice things. I'm the least observant person I know, especially when it comes to social things.
