My mom was concerned about me because I wasn't reaching developmental milestones, so she took me to a doctor to find out what was wrong. They asked my mom why we came and what was wrong with me, and she said, "That's why we asked YOU." So we went to another doctor and then I was diagnosed with PDD-NOS. For my second evaluation when I was 7, my diagnosis was changed to high-functioning autism, and later Aspergers at age 16.

I was diagnosed with autism when I was two or three but my parents thought it was BS and didn't buy the diagnoses. I did lose that diagnoses when I was older. Then when I was 12 I was diagnosed with Asperger's.

DXed at 26 by a military psychologist.

Was almost DXed with Schizoid Personality Disorder, but the shrink felt Aspergers was a better fit.

At age 18 and I received the results just after my 19th birthday.

The diagnosis basically took more than a year with most of time spent on trying to find a professional or a psychiatry who agreed that they knew enough about autism to recognise and diagnose it. I had no idea how to go about it when I suspected that I was probably autistic at age 16/17.

I was 25 (summer of 2010) but the doctor was a bit of a flake so I'm getting diagnosed again in a few weeks to see if I can get some services to help me out. I do get a little help due to my life long CP diagnosis but the CP doesn't really affect me enough to need much services, however that's the only diagnosis I can use so far.

I'm 27 now and will be 27 by the time I'm diagnosed again and should still be 27 (birthday's not til next November) when I get the results unless it takes all year to get them.

I was born a few months early so most of my issues were lumped under 'developmental delay' and considered normal for a former premature baby for so long that it wasn't til I was in my 20s that I even tried to get a diagnosis(with my mom's help). Despite all my live long issues - mainly with my in ability to tie shoes or tell time til I was in my teens, poor concept of time passing and difficultly making simple decisions, I grew up thinking I something was off with me but that I was still normal.

Now I just tell people that ask why I do x thing that 'I'm weird' and leave it at that.

9th of this month at age 38. I'm not fully agree that they dx'd me with PDD-NOS. I'd rather call it HFA. Diagnosing practice can be a little different here where I live than in the States.

18, with aspergers. I went to see the school counselor as a senior in HS. Then I walked in for the second time and she was all like "you have aspergers". I went to get the diagnosis, since everyone had just told me I was nothing but shy my entire life, I believed that, I didnt believe I had a social disorder. Then I got diagosed even tho I did not answer the questionnaire that would warrant an aspergers diagnosis. She diagnosed me based on lack of body language. Then my parents didn't believe the diagnosis. Then a year later I went off to college and 2 months into college I got sent to the hospital after I literally answered a risk assessment then afterwards we believed the aspergers diagnosis. No NT would be that stupid to answer a risk assessment that literally.

I self-diagnosed at 23 and got an official diagnosis at 25. Before that, I was misdiagnosed with depression and social anxiety disorder.

It means he thought that I fit the diagnostic criteria for AS better than for Schizoid.

I was diagnosed with autism when I was 4.

Some years later, I was diagnosed with AS at the age of 13.
