Anyone else get this?

Whenever i hear someone eating chips and rustling the bag i get this almost uncontrollable anger. What makes it worse is the constant anticipation of the next crunching sound. It's not just one sound like nails on a chalkboard, it's the steady crunch crunch crunch every 10 seconds that drives me mad.

Then they finish eating and there is a flourish of horrible noise as they scrunch up the packet.

I know it sounds stupid, but the second i hear it i lose the ability to focus on anything else. It's like the bag has been twisted to a point and is stabbing my brain.

I get angry from loud grinding noises and long term high pitched noises and when someone honks at me with their car or when someone in a loud motorcycle reves right behind me when I am walking. Lawnmowers make me angry too.

Yeah, lots of sounds make me irritated. Coughing, burping, farting, people cracking their knuckles, people popping their mouth....loud sounds really make me mad. I get irritated really easily. haha

Some sounds really get to me too.

That's not why I posted though. You said you hate to hear people eating chips, and you mentioned the bag. Well, if you live in the US and know what Sun Chips are, have you seen/heard their new bag??? It's HORRIBLE!! !! !! !! !

For those who don't know, Sun Chips are a multigrain chip that's square and wavy. They are put out by Lay's. They come in plain, cheese, garden salsa, and ranch. They are good and we like them. My son likes them the best, so I get them for him fairly often. They have come out with this new bag, that's supposed to be more "green". It's the LOUDEST damn bag in existence. Nobody will let my son eat those around him unless he puts them in a bowl first. He's only allowed to have that bag in his room.

Sounds like you could do with ear plugs or defenders. So you can stick them on your ears, to stop you getting more than just annoyed.

I know some people say "Can you eat any louder", like making straw noises, when drinking.

I hate subwoofers with a passion, especially the expensive ones. Even earplugs aren't much defense against getting stuck at a red light with a car behind me with the bass cranked. I struggle to stay in my car.

I hate the new bags that Sun Chips come in. Why couldn't they just stick with the old bags?

I also hate those things. They should be illegal.

We have new laws against this in this country (area). Called "noise pollution". Also noisy exhausts & also if you play loud music over a certain time. Equipment can be ceased or fined.

Another one here with misophonia - sounds of eating, drinking, SLURPING (gaaah!) ... all cause intense anger and distress.

Would it not be classed as having a short fuse?

Slurping annoys lots of people. Difference would be your fuse to anger.

I have two son's on opposite ends of the spectrum. Not a single noise in the world bothers my NT son. I would even speculates that my NT son loves noise. Every unpredictable noise bothers my autistic son. My autistic son can not help it.

People eating doesn't tend to annoy me. There are noises that annoy me far more than that.

-My cat miawing in the kitchen when I'm in my bedroom (just so distracting and so irritating)
-People shuffling about outside my bedroom door (I keep thinking they're going to come in)
-The kettle boiling (it roars so loud and it makes my ears hiss when I'm in another room, because it's at an awkward tone)
-People yawning really loud (it just shatters me, and I don't see why people have to do it)
-Toddlers screaming and shouting (especially at nothing)
-People walking about in the room above me (especially if you hear all kind of bangs, not just general walking)
-Loud motorbikes revving

There are probably lots of others I have put down but I can't think of any more at the moment. But these sounds don't just annoy me a little, they annoy me an awful lot and make me so angry.
