I know it's very common in ASD to "walk on toes". I'm wondering if it's also common to be pigeon toed (toes pointing in) or duck toed as some people call it (toes pointing out). Here is an example:

I toe-walk all the time, and my feet constantly point inward. Picture "C" is pretty much exactly the position my toes always are in. It is involuntary. I cannot keep my toes pointing straight if I try. It feels awkward for me. Same with if I try to not toe-walk while barefoot. I just can't.

Mine used to point out from toe walking and toe bouncing rocking from side to side from one foot to the other on my toes, but I broke my right knee twice and I have three pins holding it together, that foot points straight now, the left one still points outward.

I still walk funny. Sucks. :ncool:

My feet do not have any typical alignment; sometime, they point inwards, sometimes, they point outwards, and, most of the time, I'm not paying enough attention to notice which direction they are pointing.

I've done pilates for a few years and try to get my feet straight. I do seem to still wear the outside of my shoes more.

I've noticed recently (again from trainer and sock wear) is I point my toes upwards (i.e. flex) a lot. Don't know if that's an ASD thing or not.

My feet point outwards but my toes point up. :D

I prematurely wear out the toes on all my shoes.

I'm gonna go with outward. But do keep in mind that I've walking into things and broken them more times than I care to remember.

Which has seriously reshape the position of all my toes except the big toe and the one next to it.

I had to wear {FREAKING UGLY} special shoes when I was little, because my toes point out. Then they must have given up on correcting that, because I took years of ballet, and the outward toes is crucial to making correct ballet moves. Then I grew up and met my biological father, and I instantly knew where my duck feet came from. All this, before I was diagnosed, of course.

... egads, I'd forgotten all about those hideous shoes. Could have done without the reminder

The reason that I ask this question is because my toes point out and my parents always nagged me about it as if I could help it. I was thinking about it some time ago and observed people at two ASD conventions I went to. A very large percentage of them had the 'duck toe' walk/stance like me. For some reason I thought of it again and wanted to know if this is common in you guys too. I'm not aware of any studies about this but I'm starting to think this is a pretty common trait in ASD. If I remember, in the general population, among people who do not have parallel feet, pigeon toe is more common than duck toe.

Picture C. In high school after years of being nagged at and forcing myself to 'cartoon' walk I was able to point toes out in public. Then a couple of years later I saw something on TV about Queen Elizabeth and the Royal Family, the TV person commented that they all walked slightly inward, then I thought since they can pretty much walk however they want well so can I, and I abandoned trying to impress others by which way my feet point, and instead bombarded them with my knowledge of music

My toes bend inwards a bit, but I also ball them up while they are in shoes or socks, and toe walk if I'm barefoot. I have no idea why, I didn't even notice I did it until someone commented.

I never paid any attention to my feet.
