Do any of you ever feel the need for strong pressure on particular parts of your body (no, I don't mean it that way :P)? For instance, sometimes I have a craving for upward pressure on the arches of my feet, or downward on my shoulders near my neck. It makes me feel "pulled together" somehow and helps me relax. Just wondering if maybe that's a common thing.

Definitely. When I'm freaked out, pressure on my chest/solar plexus or downward pressure on my shoulders is wonderfully soothing.

Sort of. Does needing (regardless of the weather) a blanket at night count? :?

I need a blanket to sleep, too. Also, I'm sitting here in 85 degree heat with a blanket on my shoulders because I like the pressure, which led to this post.

Been seriously looking at making or buying a weighted blanket for just that reason.

Debating whether to do this too. And you can buy pressure vests and lap things.

I like it on my head, with a hat.

I made a weighted blanket awhile back for this reason, I love it, it is really calming

Yes, definitely. For me it's my head and my arms.

I get the head pressure by squeezing it myself with my hands or arms and at work I have a set of ear defenders which have the joint uses of blocking out noise and applying pressure to the sides of my head.

For my arms, I lie on them when I'm in bed, always use armrests on chairs often pressing my arms in hard enough to slightly raise my body (I feel very uncomfortable on a chair without arms anywhere except the dining table) and sometimes, for example at the cinema, sit with my arms squished between the sides of my body and the seat sides/arms.

I have to sleep under a heavy blanket, and I have to be squeezing something in my arms, like a pillow or a stuffed animal.

When I'm stressed, I like to put pressure on my body. I'll squeeze myself, or press my hands together.

I like deep/hard pressure. It can be very calming and soothing. I prefer it mostly on my chest and arms, but pretty much anywhere is good. I've never had a weighted blanket, but I think I'd love having one.

I love having the protective apron put on at the dentist's when I'm getting my mouth x-rayed.

My friend and I are making our own weighted blankets this weekend. I can't wait! We already have the pellets. We just need the cloth.

I've always loved pressure. Whether something laying on me or something like having a back pack on. It just feels really good and relaxing.

I wore a weighted vest sometimes in my orthopedically handicapped class in school. It was so calming. I really like the pressure over my shoulders the most. I've thought about buying some kind of weights I can just droop over my shoulders or put in pockets of an old hoodie or something to give me that "weighted vest " feeling

I to always sleep under my quilt at night regardless of the temperature. I pull it as tight around me as I can. It makes me feel more secure and it's also easier to fall asleep with it on. I like deep pressure. I have one of those beanie pillow things and I like to sit cross legged and push it up into my stomach as much as I can with it under both arms as if I'm leaning over it while sitting down.

I always squeeze a pillow when I'm trying to sleep, but nothing really besides that.
