A few years back I had pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital. I was given an Echocardiogram I could actually feel the Ecg as it took readings of my heart. The hospital staff kept asking me if I had taken any drugs lol. Has anything like this happened to any of you?

YES!! ! I felt a tickly vibration in my ribs, and on the sternum, as the microphone was passed over them. The technician also thought I was imagining it. It wasn't unpleasant or anything; just a sensation that I guess we're not supposed to notice.

Aspies are known to have very sensitive bodies. I had to have a radioactive heart test a few years ago, they told me that when it was injected it would just speed up my heart and I would feel as if I had done some exercise. When they injected it, as it circulated it filled my whole body with pain. I was crying and panicking because it was so awful, and two doctors had to hold my hands. It was a totally different reaction to what normally happens with people having that test.

Also, when I was pregnant with both my children I felt them moving way earlier than you are "supposed to". The radiographer doing my scan didn't believe me, which really annoyed me, because I know my body and what I'm feeling.

It's probably the same reason we are so sensitive to medications and when I'm unwell, I feel the sensations of the illness far more than other people seem to.

I do believe I have interoception (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/interoception) which is basically awareness of inner organs and what is happening inside the body.

Yeah i know what you mean. I think my scope reaches beyond internal organs. I have to shave all the time because i feel uneasy with facial hair.

That's known as exteroception (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/exteroception).

I can't bear my hair tickling around my face, it's very fine and the sides are quite wispy, and the feeling is unbearable. It's probably similar to your feeling about your beard.

oh wow, I think i have both to a degree. It is not as bad as to prevent me from hugging people but it is quite uncomfortable.

Wouldn't surprise me if I have it. I remember getting a TENS machine put on my bad back and it was pure torture.... on the lowest setting. People were laughing at me because they couldn't see how a big, tall guy can't handle such a tiny electrical current. I also remember when the kids in Junior High would give each other shocks for fun I found them almost unbearably painful and uncomfortable.

The kids are school had a field day with a 'wimp' like me of course once they realized how sensitive I was to even the slightest touch.

I get weird looks all the time because of my refusal to touch metal door handles with my bare hands in the winter. I don't care. I hate static.

Wow. Interesting. I had an ECG once, did not feel a thing. Glad I didn't, that sensation you described would have caused me to be anxious. I'm nervous enough in hospital environs even without alien sensations. 8O

I saw a little alien in my heart when I had an ECG. I asked the nurse if it was an alien. The nurse said that it was not an alien.

I always discharge the static with the back of my wrist, I seem to have less sensitivity there compared to my fingers

I've had several ECGs (EKGs) and have never experienced feeling any sensations from them. I find it highly interesting that some of you have. The next time I have one, I will see if I feel anything like this.
