Hello everyone! It seems like forever since I have been on here. Anyways, I have been working on a site mildaspergers.com, and it had consumed a lot of my time. After much work, I have finally opened a forum section of my site. The mildaspergers.com forum is finally up! Come take a wind by and say hello! Thanks.

I'm curious. How come you started a new site when Wrong Planet meets a lot of people's needs?

They asked the Facebook guy that same question, in regards to Myspace meeting people's needed.

I commend him for taking a stab at creating an alternative to this one.

But what defines mild Asperger's, as opposed to severe Asperger's, as opposed to moving further down the spectrum beyond Asperger's?

There is a forum called Aspie Village for UK people, although I don't know if it is taking new people atm. But there are quite a lot of us UK people on WP too. We might not put UK on our profiles but we are here.

To answer you questions, here is what mild Asperger's means:
-While there are some who have serious psychological issues and are a pretty bad case (mo offense to Mr. Cohen, but Bram Cohen), my forum mostly focuses on those who suffer in silence (because their condition is not as noticeable). Yes, they are weird, but not to the point of rocking back and forth and such. I do not mean to offend, I am just stating the difference.

And in terms of why there should be an alternative:
-I want my site to be more comprehensive. Don't get me wrong, the forum is great here, but as far as other parts of the sites, they are barren. On my site, users can suggest sections to both my forum and site. This will make it much more expansive in terms of content.

I hope some of yous are interested. If there is a topic you want me to discuss, then please, don't hold back! Thanks for the support :D,

Oh, lonely guy, there is actually a forum section on my site for international members. Would you be interested in manning a UK effort?

Rocking back and forth means severe?

I rock. (And stim a lot in general.)

I'm also a university student, usually do OK at reading social cues one-on-one (it's in groups that I struggle), have mild sensory issues I can put up with most of the time, I'm pretty sure my ToM development was probably on time, and the vast majority of people who meet me wouldn't guess I'm autistic if I didn't tell them.

Not per se, I am just saying that there are some people that are not as obvious with there symptoms. I am not saying you are "disabled" or anything like that, I was merely using that as a comparison in terms of how bad your symptoms stick out. I hope you understand :).

I'm curious do you think that aspergers and Autism gets enough attention today?
because it is extremely difficult for these kids to make it through school especially since shop classes have gone away and the education methods do not always meet visual spacial criteria.
I think the more the merrier, It's nice to someone trying to help instead of bury us in the closet.
Good Luck

Thank you. Btw, the General Aspergers section and New section is open to all users, not just registered ones.

I know this was a while ago but I saw someone mention a forum for the UK and I have one running now - I'm UK based and so are some/quite a few of the other members. It's an international forum though so anyone can join :D

It's called Asperclick

I didn't think many forum owners took kindly to people advertising forums that are in direct competition to theirs. ;)

I'm guessing that the WP folks don't see it as much of a competition lol

it's usually ok, as long as it's not a person's primary focus on our site. basically, if a person seems to be on WrongPlanet just to promote other forums or sites, that is a bit problematic. but we understand that WrongPlanet is not for everyone, and some members may prefer another site with different clientele/rules/moderators - and that's ok (we'll even offer suggestions sometimes!).

in those cases where someone has a free forum or site they want to share, it's cool to provide the link here in most cases. of course, it gets problematic if the member starts spamming (a lot of links, not much contribution to WrongPlanet), or if they start advertising for paid services or sites.

but honestly, like Rascal77s said, WrongPlanet is massive so i don't think there is a big jealous worry here. and also we'd rather have happy members here and there than people feeling like they have to sneak off. there are lots of great resources and supports for people on the spectrum, we all benefit from being openminded.
