Let's see...

Going into buildings (stores, etc...), having the lights turned off (!), stairs, railroad crossings, walking under freeway overpasses (mostly after a major earthquake we had here), airplanes and flying...

I was a bit of a phobic mess as a kid. These days, I still don't like to fly, I don't drive, and I don't like to travel to far-flung places by myself.

I've had a very intense fear of heights and blood as far back as I can remember. I was also scared of my own poo at one point between the ages 4 and 8. I was so scared of it that I would only go 2 hours after supper. At least it was dark by than in the winter.

I've always been afraid of spiders and the dark, the phone (I get anxious whenever my mobile rings!), balloons (hate unexpected noise), talking to strangers, confrontation, and back when I had a job, my boss. He wasn't an especially scary guy, but I was always terrified of screwing up in front of him.

I have plenty of fears -- I wasn't diagnosed with Panic Disorder for nothing. But I don't know how odd they are...

** The dark. My mother used to threaten my brother and me that if we didn't shut up and go to sleep, she was going to "close the door". That would make it dark in the bedroom, and thus held a negative connotation for me.

** Dating -- I enjoy the company of men, and can talk well with them UNTIL...they start showing more than casual interest. Then I get stammery and sweaty and panicky, and become terrified that they're about to ask me out. They rarely do, so either they sensed my fear and backed off, or I was misreading the situation (which is very likely). It's not that I don't WANT to date (I have had a few boyfriends, so I'm not a complete disaster). But I just don't have much experience on how to behave on a date. The men who became my boyfriends were men I knew from work, a friendship formed, and then eventually a relationship. The idea of going out on a date with a man I just met absolutely petrifies me.

** Asking questions of people I don't know. I hate calling companies on the phone to get information, I hate asking for directions.

** Parties. Duh...self-explanatory.

** After two wrecks and several near-wrecks in the last year, I'm getting where I'm not that fond of driving. I always enjoyed it before, but I'm starting to see it as more dangerous than I used to.

** Being judged or critiqued, either negatively or positively. I hate crossing a crowded restaurant because I feel like everyone is watching me and seeing my flaws. I don't like people to read my writing, and I'm always really nervous when I cook something for someone other than myself. I almost never dress up -- even though I do clean up pretty nice -- because I hate compliments so badly. Ditto for singing in front of people. I'm told I sing well by people who have heard me sing to the radio. But every time I've tried to sing TO someone, my throat gets tight, my breathing gets weird, and I get hoarse.

I've better about talking to people I don't know than I used to be. I've found that if I have something between me and someone else -- a table, a shelf, -- I am much more comfortable than trying to talk to them out in the open. I was so bad in my 20s that I wouldn't even go shopping in new stores because I wasn't sure what was expected of me as a customer, and I didn't want to mess up and get made fun of for it. I just knew the sales staff was watching to see if I made a mistake -- misfold something or misshelve or pick my nose or something. Plus I always feel like I'm imposing when I'm in a store -- especially if there's no other customer besides me. I just can't help thinking that the staff has so many other things to do than wait on me, and I'm holding them up with my lame-ass requests.

I don't know these are considered odd or not:

I used to fear toilets at a young age because water always sucked down there.

I was afraid of dogs because I thought they were all mean and vicious.

I had this lamp above my bed and it was attached to my wall, I hated the shape of it in the dark.

I was afraid of eating at Jack in the box because of the e coli incident that happened and people got sick and died from the meat.

I used to be scared of ordering my food or paying for my things.

The Trunchbull in Matilda scared me when I first saw it in theaters so I had nightmares about her. I also had a fear she would come into my home and hit me with one of her shot puts even though I knew she wasn't real and the movie was make believe. How was this even a kid's movie I wondered.

I've always had a fear of water, no I mean like say Your in a boat and You look over towards the side just looking at the water made me feel uncomfortable, it's the feeling if not knowing whats underneath that scares me.

However if the waters fresh and I can see through it I love it.

Well, I used to be scared of streetsweepers. I still am, a little bit. But I used to run away from them whenever they were near. I realise now that it's because not only do they make a loud noise, but they also take up a lot of space on the pavement. Oh, and those spinny-bristly-brush things. Uuuuuuggghhhhh...D=

Dogs. If you want to see me jump out of my skin introduce me to a wanton dog.

Bridges. The higher they are the more petrifying they become. Walking over them I just feel like I can suddenly jump off into the water below.

Thuggish-looking people. They make my heart leap in my chest when I see them coming down the road. It's like they want to mug me or something.

Balloons. The thought that they might pop scares me witless. More so as a child than as an adult, though.

Firearms. It's not a true fear, it's just that I don't keep them because I might use one on me someday.

Liquid food like custard that can have lumps in or grow a skin on it - bleurgh.
The phone - the ring, the conversation, everything.
When I was little I was scared of being sucked down the toilet. Scared that Jack Frost would get me if I let myself get cold so I sat by the heater all the time. I had nightmares about a fox in a waistcoat.

My son used to be scared of the letter K, pictures of food in cafes and restaurants and the noise the crossings make when you can cross the road (in fact there's lots of noises he has been sensitive to but this one really affected our quality of life).

when I was little I was scared of balloons and wouldn't go past a classroom that had balloons hanging up also when they had children's shows on TV I used to hide behind the chair.
later I saw a film that had someone fall down a cliff and he was covered in fire, that made me scared of fire after that and I had a lamp on my bedside table and I used to try and keep well away from the lamp even if it wasn't on.
Electric blankets I will not sleep in a bed that has one on it in motel or hotel rooms I will pull the plug out of the switch so I will feel safe to sleep.

I've been scared of bugs ever since I can remember. There are a couple like butterflies I can tolerate, but even then, they make e uncomfortable.

When I was younger, I was afraid of chickens and cows because of a nightmare I had. I was also afraid of the one eyed one horned flying purple people eater cause... well, it was supposed to eat people!

I'm still afraid of the dark. I can't sleep with my door closed cause I need the hallway light pouring in. I can't sleep in total darkness unless I'm with a bunch of people.

I used to be afraid of loud things, but I know the reason for this now. I've got bad hearing sensory issues, and I was afraid of them cause they caused me literal pain. I still don't like them.

OP, I don't like vomit, either. It really, really upsets me for some reason; like, it causes this feeling of dread. It doesn't matter if it's on a movie or in real life. When I saw Pitch Perfect, I literally wanted to cry cause of the first scene, and I couldn't enjoy the rest of the movie cause I was in fear of it happening again(which it did).

I'm also horribly afraid of death and dying. I'm not gonna go into too much detail right now cause I don't wanna upset myself, but it terrifies me.

OMG the "THX". I forgot about that one but it used to terrify me. And the 20th Century Fox intro with all the trumpets. Jesus, it just wasn't necessaary. I'm still afraid of the dark too.

But I have a lot of tactile fears. I'm terriefied of birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and any kind of rodent, insect, or whatever. (Basically anything that isn't a dog, cat, or horse lol) because I don't like the way they feel. My sister brought in a bird feather one day and touched me with it as a joke and I flipped.

There are numerous other things, but most I just have an aversion to.

I'm afraid of being upside down. I can't dive into a swimming pool because of this, or ride most of the rides at an amusement park. Like a lot of other people here, balloons make me nervous. I can't do a somersault because I can't believe that my neck won't snap.

I used to be terrified of dogs until my mother got me a puppy. It was so little and soft that I wasn't scared, and after it grew up it was my sweetie.

I was afraid to flush the toilet for years because I had a bad experience with one overflowing and making a mess and my mom getting upset about it. And I used to be afraid to plug in things because I saw electricity jump out of the socket once when I plugged in something and it was on.

I used to be terribly afraid of boys. They were mean and threw rocks at me. Oh, and I was afraid of balls. This made childhood very difficult for me, growing up in an area where sports ruled.
