Is Jamie an asperger's sufferer? -you know the bold headed Paris Hat Moustache man.

-I think he is....

tell tale signs:

Couldn't give a toss about anyone
-Talks too much about something he likes
-Only Talks when it's about something he likes
-The occasional attempt at being normal is usally flawed
-He dresses comfortably
-On many occasions he has voised his opinion about another person, quite blatantly - while everyone just stares back bemused.

I am watchin an episode right now...

He doens't seem to look into the camera - he hates looking into peoples eyes.

-how about some of the starnge foods he eats - like that nutrition bag he made when they did that long haul drive.

--I wonder, if moustaches were still stylish, would more aspies grow them to hide thier facial expressions better?

Check out http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0914/p20s01-altv.html

Quote:
Being resourceful came in handy when Hyneman was about 14. He ran away from home for six months after his parents threatened to send him to reform school because of "unruly behavior."
...
It took Hyneman a of couple years to feel comfortable talking in front of a camera, let alone to strangers on the street. "You have to remember that I'm a guy who is happiest in a dark room just thinking," he says. "I'm not a sociable person. I don't like to talk."
...
"I wouldn't spend five minutes with Adam outside work if I didn't have to," says Hyneman. "But yet I feel somewhat displaced without him in the workplace ... destroying my tools and leaving messes everywhere he goes."

My coworker at my old job reminded me of Jamie and Adam reminds me more of myself. Jamie seems calm and collective yet Adam seems more emotional volatile
like myself.

Well, I never liked the spotty research and absolute statements on the show. They do things like say(for instance), ridlin improves math scores, and [we think] this is because of the stimulant properties, so we will take ephedra that is a stimulant at levels that exceed it and see if scores are better. They arent! MYTH BUSTED!

Still, I have wondered the same thing myself. Special effects is a GREAT field for an aspie! Tight work, fun, requires thought, you have a say, you can see the product of your work, you don't necessarily have to work with people or even become famous to the average person.

Even if he has Asperger's I highly doubt he is a "sufferer", he seems to have adapted to things quite well if he does have AS ... and to call someone a 'sufferer', well that term is just kinda rather insulting, we're not diseased. We don't have an illness. And we're not mentally ill.

I may have Asperger's but I'm not a 'sufferer'.

Yeah if he does have Asperger's, fine, if he doesn't he may just be a non-autistic with some minimal traits. Unless one is a professional, it's not really much use judging others based on some traits.

I  that show.

Jamie shows aspie traits and came up with a neat quote I sometimes use.

"I reject your reality and substitue it with my own."

ADAM could be a CURED AS type aswell- except he went the other way (The ADD way)

-You can tell he is a cured ADD ,,, he get's mad when his opionion his discounted.

-He likes hands on work

-Thinking is enjoyable, but not a strong point, he usually misses the overall logical picture. (Usually by ommitting fact)

-Oh and he just get's mad - for apperently very simple reasons. (Childish)
